Recall from Furlough: Just a Question?

Recall from Furlough: Just a Question?
Since being on furlough I've found a job to pay the bills and really like the company I work for. That being said "if and when" the call comes to return to flying, I will be returning to the cockpit. My question is, what kind of time is involved in a recall notice? Are you back on the property in a week/ a month? I know this is a question that can't be answered specifically, but maybe there is a "general type answer" I can get. The reason I ask is because while my company knows my situation, I'm not interested in screwing them over by not having enough time to switch my duties to someone else not prepared for the unique aspects of the job. If I had a few weeks to do this I think we'd be okay, if shorter that might be a problem. I also don't want to burn any bridges that could be helpful in a future furlough situation. Thank you for any of your answers...

I think the ALPA contract at Comair stipulates 17 days' notice... Most will want to hop back in prior to that and will opt to start earlier, if you want the max time and do not bypass, 17 days is what we get.

I'm a ways down the list, so I told my new boss that I would let him know when it's even getting close. As for an exact number of days, it should be in your contract. You could always contact HR and ask them how many days notice they give you to show up when the recall occurs.
Good luck to you, I hope it works out for you. I wish I had your problem.....I hate my new job, and can't wait to get called back.

From the CMR contract I have access to:
When the Company recalls furloughed pilots, such pilots shall be notified of recall, in writing, in order of system seniority. The notification shall specify a date of return to active duty, and such date will not be less than seventeen (17) days after the effective date of the notice, unless mutually agreed upon by the furloughed pilot and the Company.
D. Each pilot shall answer the recall notice, in writing, within ten (10) calendar days from the effective date of notice. Such answer must state the pilot's intent to accept or reject recall. The Company shall explain this requirement in the recall notice.

like others have said it depends on the contract and most companies do not expect you to recieve your notice and be ready to go in 2 days. Hopefully recalls start happening soon for the larger regionals but I don't think it will happen for at least another year.
