I usually tip generously whether it's an Uber driver, waiter, appliance delivery man, hair stylist, doesn't matter. Do a good job, get a good tip. Do a poor job, get a measly tip. A measly tip is more effective than no tip, especially when the bar is not that high to earn a good tip. 95% of the time, a good tip is earned because I'm a nice guy and folks usually do a good job for me.

Haven't received a tip myself since the 172 driving days.

We know, cheap fu#ks usually have no shame. People tend to want to be judged just on their best qualities. Unfortunately that is not how the real world works.

I have no dog in this fight but it’s been my experience that people who tend to not tip also tend to not be as fun. This is of course anecdotal and just my opinion, but it’s hard to enjoy life when you’re pinching every penny.

nah, bro...I don't expect to be judged on my best qualities. I expect to be judged on non trivial ones.

You want to form an opinion about me on a single fact...I don't tip the driver? That's fine, just understand that's on the same level as disliking someone because they have blue eyes.

I refuse to tip the van driver not because I'm cheap. I'll normally buy the first round or pick up a new hires dinner. I refuse to tip because I think the custom is ridiculous and needs to die in a fire.

Not really. It is a social norm to tip van drivers when they provide a good service. This is how things are done in the US. I don't necessarily like it, but that's life man. If you don't tip, you are cheap. It's on a much different level than being judged for something trivial. It just kinda tells people about your personality.

I've never disliked somebody for not tipping. Lost respect? Sure, but not dislike. The problem with your analogy is that you can't control the natural color of your eyes, but you can control whether you are a douche or not.

Well I am 40 and haven’t had to yet. I carry an emergency $100 with me at all times, but it is just that, for an emergency hence the reason I leave in a high denomination so as to not spend it.

I've had Captains pick up drinks and dinner, but hated every second of it. Picking up a new hire's dinner doesn't make you fun.
