That would make your argument a lot more tolerable. Stop making excuses for your embarrassing behavior.
No, because you are wrong and just because you say otherwise doesn’t make it anymore true. My wife would laugh at your notion that I’m cheap.

Did you even read what I wrote or are you to righteous for that?

On topic, you are literally making my point for me. This entire tread is based on assumptions that hold no water. In one sentence you have determined that I am cheap and selfish, two attributes you have no authority to make due to having no facts to support it. You are the problem in this scenario, not me.

11 years at a major and I've never seen any crewmember (to include FA's) grab their bags and sneak away without tipping.

Before I go on a trip, I make sure my tablet is charged, there's gas in my car, I have my passport medical and wallet and enough money in my wallet for the trip or at least enough to get me to an ATM and enough underwear. It's all part of living on the road. Yes, tipping is optional and there are times I don't. But for the vast majority of cases, when they guy or call does a good job, I give him a tip. It's the respectful thing to do as deemed by society.

Even at the regionals, you will rarely see an FA not tip (I can't remember ever seeing one in 10 years at a regional) and the FAs make peanuts. It seems to be even money though on whether a captain will tip. It's simply embarrassing when the highest paid member of the crew is the one always making excuses about why they aren't going to tip or that they aren't going to make sure they have cash "just for tipping."

I'm with CBreezy, I make sure I have enough cash for tipping and if I mess up and don't have it then I get to an ATM so I do.

How is this even a thread?

The math is simple.

You tip a driver who loads and unloads you damned bag or you are a POS.

Simple

Seriously. Everyone gives the lady in a restaurant 15 to 20% for brining them 3lbs of food, but they cheap out on a driver who just hefted 687lbs of bags...,

Only pilots I have ever seen not tip a van driver are millenials. I guess they assume mommy will be along to take care of it.... Or, more likely-they are too far up their own asses to give a crap.

Maybe it’s just the particular regional that I work for but i’d say about 20% of FAs and 50% of FOs tip the van driver, from what i’ve seen the past 3 years here.

Not simple. We continue to have this discussion because you and the rest of the Righteous Rangers can't accept a different view. I'm not into social norms, so again I say...tip if you have a buck, don't if you don't. I think my whole crew is about 50/50 this tour. I did find 4 quarters in my shorts though so tomm I will be a shining cultural hero!

I almost never see fa’s tip, most captains tipped when I was an fo and I always carry ones and tip cause it’s a whopping buck or two a day whooptie do we make that an hour in per diem.

Agreed, tip the damn drivers and stop being so cheap. Ok maybe every single person doesn’t have to give them a buck but at least make sure they get a few bucks out of it, this must be a psa thread or something.

You might want to avoid mentioning this at a job interview. Recent events have made employers nervous....
