on our checks it shows Uniform deductions, you should be able to get copies of these payroll checks and send them to the Collection agency proving you had already paid, if your credit is less then perfect, screw it, you wont get a loan anyway, if your credit is perfect I would get it resolved ASAP

See if it has been reported on your credit. If it has, then you can open a dispute with all 3 credit bureaus online.

Once you register the dispute, the company that reported it MUST provide documentation to you and to the reporting agencies that the debt is a) yours and b) legit.

If they fail to do so within 90 days, the item is removed from your report.

Worst and most short sighted advice I've ever read. There's no reason to neglect this. I'd check my credit report on-line that's available for free. If there's something there just dispute it. It's easy, free, and they do all the work after that. I've disputed two claims in the past and they were removed within a week. After that I'd contact XJT and see what they have to say about things. Get whatever you can in writing. Then, as others have said, take them to small claims court if you have to. If you can do it I'd also include a counter suit for XJT to make sure it covers all the expenses you incur for this including 8hrs of pay at your current hourly rate since you'll spend the whole day up there.

NEVER just leave something on your credit report. It's not that hard to get something that's on it removed either. The small amount now could cost you much more in the future with any interest from credit cards to home/auto. I find it's good practice to check your credit report at least once a year. Last time I had 7 or 9(can't remember) open lines of credit in my name I never applied for. It's quick and easy to do and this simple practice gets me the best possible interest rate on anything I've ever applied for saving me quite a bit.

^^^Free for once a year, you can thank Pres. Bush for that, and it's very easy to dispute a claim from there.

From the Fedral trade commision pubs...

Here are the "Big 3". This is how I cleaned up my credit. First, do not get "Professional help". They'll only charge you for something you can do with a little help from your friends here at APC for free. Write a form letter. Send it to each one. List the name of the collection agency, and whose interest they are operating under. "Cheap-skate Airline Inc." Whatever. In the letter, tell them. "I have paid for said uniforms." (Whether you have or not). Include, "I am disputing their claim against me."

As of the date the credit reporting company receives the letter, the claimant company has 45 days in which they can counter your dispute. Chances are, they simply forwarded their "claim" to the collection agency to do what? That's right, save time/money. More often than not, on small claims, which this one is, they wont put in the work and let the grace time simply lapse. You will be sent a letter a couple weeks after the 45 day grace period that will say, "The item listed, Cheap-Skate Airline Inc. has been removed from your credit history." End of story. If they do, contest your claim. Well, it cost you a whopping 36c to try.

Don't sweat it. It actually kinda fun to witness the power YOU have over THEM.

XJT payroll/accounting = a complete joke. I never had any problems, ever, with a payroll issue since I started working 18 years ago. Then comes along XJT payroll, and it was a constant battle with these idiots over many numerous errors on their part. The best part is, as time went, they made themselves impossible to get a hold of. Never answer the phone, never return emails, never return voicemails. Nothing. XJT is really going down the toilet. Glad I'm gone. Screw em, they screwed us.

Messing with your credit score is no joke. I think that it shouldn't be too hard to get a law firm interested in a class action suit against XJT for acting this way. They are obviously just searching for more money, and found a quick way to make a few bucks by selling bogus debts to some collection agency. It really ticks me off to see a company screwing their former employees like this. I don't know what kind of damages you could prove, but it might be worth looking in to. Get 'em back, and get 'em back good. B@stards.

Totally agree with this.

LAX/ONT/SAT based people can agree that it was beyond totally unacceptable.

This could be one of the scams you hear about all the time. These collection companies are dirt bags. This is happening all over the country, I would not worry about taking action until you see something in writing. If they cannot produce proof of the debt tell them to go pound sand. Then I would just keep an eye on my credit report just in case. Most people would be scared of this an immediately write a a check. Even if they do not owe the money. On another note, you can get a free credit report and score (no signing up for anything) at a site call quizzle.com it, the site is done by Quicken.

I had the same thing happen with Trans States. Initially they were billing me like $1500 for pass travel and uniform. The uniform, yes I still owed them about $300, but pass travel? No.... It's in collection and I'm trying to fight it as well.
