Default Pilot Career Centre - Mesa Q400?

So I was reading on pilotcareercentre.com various things including a section called "A Pilot's Life" which different people from all over the world can describe their lives as pilots with various companies.

Not to start a whole another thing with Mesa, but a street captain from Mesa on the Dash 8 had written, "We are expecting to get the Q400 series anytime soon. It is still unknown how many since they are hard to come by, but they are coming."

You can find his article here. A Pilot's Life - Dash 8 Captain - Mesa Airlines

Now, I am sure this is an older post because I know hardly any airlines are getting any new airplanes right now. My question is why would Mesa pilots think at any time that they would be getting new airplanes? And how would Mesa even think of being able to pay for it?

Unless they were already confirmed orders it would be a LONG time before they could see them. Ours have been ordered for quite a while now and we will not see ONE until mid next year.

But who knows...mesa works in mysterious ways.

I haven't heard this rumor and I work at Mesa. Sounds like the pipe dream of a -200 guy.

What would they do with them? Hawaii?

And how would they pay for them? One or two Q400's would clean out OJ's bank account.

Their dash flying is split between airways (who apparently can't wait to fire them in 2012) and UAL. UAL has already bid out their flying...not sure they would award them Q400 flying at this point.

Of course there's always DAL

Just out of curiosity, why is is 2012? I thought Mesa's contract with US Airways was up in 2009? Airways didn't renew it, did they?

Huh.

Other gems from this guy:

The reason the pay is so low is that three years ago the pilot signed a collective bargaining agreement allowing for lower pay while allowing the company to take over the Regional market in the US (which they are doing at an alarming rate) and guarantying job security. In the light of all the lay-offs and furloughs at the Majors and other Regionals after 9/11, it was a no-brainer. And it worked. Contract is up for renegotiation next year and pay should go up.
So, how's that all working out?

Keep in mind this article is three years old. He refers to being hired in 2004 as a street captain as two years ago, making this article written in 2006. As everyone knows things have changed drasticly since then. The fact that he refers to some of their flying as America West Express should show how old this article is.

Ooooo the old Q400's for Freedom bit! That little nugget is actually not a rumor. It was started by Delta/DCI when Freedom accepted to fly the Dash's out of JFK. DCI was looking to expand the turboprop service out if JFK with the Q400 and Freedom would get the first dibs at a/c. Well DCI/Delta decided to go with the CRJ-900 which of course Freedom got first dibs, even though the Dash's failed miserably and beyond MAG's targeted operating budget!

It's been 2012 for years now. There is a "sunset" provision that started in 2007 or 2008, which allows airways to withdraw two aircraft per year...which they have been doing on schedule IIRC.

Actually you may of misread that.

Q400 is actually their earnings report.

In the fourth quarter, they made no money.
