Skywest classes - any guesses?

Lets not forget that many analysists and other such mucky-mucks in the papers are expecting many airlines to go back into bankruptcy in the fall if the economy doesn't improve and/or gas prices go back up. I would imagine the regionals will be hit very hard if their major partners go Ch. 11. SkyWest is probably one of the best positioned out of all of the majors but then again, if UA and/or US Air goes south, all of their regionals will be sent along for the ride.

The poolies might see a class or two but only if the rumored UAL Q’s or Mesa’s downfall comes to fruition………………………please don’t hold your breath. JO’s a cockroach and cockroaches can survive a nuclear holocaust.
If that happens the ASA furloughed pilots would be transferred to the Sky West certificate if they choose before any poolies are given class dates.

Well, like many others, I've been in the hiring pool for one year now. I know things change daily and that it's hard to predict the future, but does anyone have a guestimate as to when classes might resume? I'm hoping no later than next spring, but I guess it all depends on how much flying Delta and United require this fall and next spring. Well, I guess the good news is that no furloughs have been announced.

Long term I hoped it would be best for the industry if more pilot groups belonged to one union.
Painful because alpa at the regional level sucks, period. I don't think they would do anything for SKW, except maybe create an antagonistic relationship with the company. As far as taking care of our pilot group goes, I would vastly prefer an independent union...seems to work for AA, SWA, etc.

I also think that ALPA has turned the corner on the regional industry and its pilots. They have made great strides lately, not to take away anything from all their safety advocacy that has helped all pilots.
ALPA does not decide what kind of relationship your pilots have with management. Your MEC decides on that in their actions and communications. And your MEC is democraticly elected or recalled by the line pilots. This whole issue with management relations is a big misconception that ALPA has. ALPA only provides the toolbox and your MEC decides how to use it.
But let me ask you this, what has SWAPA, APA, FPA, IPA, USAPA, IBT, or even SAPA done for the regional pilots that ALPA hasn't?

You fly the 340 for SKW???
Management has pretty much said no furloughs. They don't make statements like that lightly, so I'm guessing no furloughs in the current environment.
Hiring? My guess would be 18 months or so, maybe less, assuming that there is no large gain in flying (ie mag liquidation).
