Will it be "Q-400s For Jobs" as opposed to "Jets For Jobs?"

Its what we did the last time. They get hired at 2nd year pay, they have to wait for the left seat just like everyone else.

SkyWest hired United pilots in an agreement for flying? How many pilots did they hire?

I know this chief really well and he only told me two other things. He did say that the furloughed UAL guys would go to the bottom of the list just like last time. Being SLC based I also asked him as a joke when we would open PHX to clear some of the SLC list out and he said "for what is worth Chip was in PHX yesterday". When I asked him if he was serious he said he was. Take it for what its worth which is probably nothing.

I am not trying to start anything with this question, but . . . why do they start with 2nd year pay?

They have to go to ground school, go through sim, go through IOE, just like the rest of us did - correct? I may be wrong on some of these items, I don't know. (I am assuming they would not be current on the CRJ or EMB at time of "hire" at SkyWest)

What I do know, however, is myself and every other SkyWest pilot paid for our "flight training" to become current and proficient on the CRJ or EMB by getting first year pay . . . for the entire first year we worked for SkyWest.

What I also know is every friend of mine who took the job offer from United within the last two years and who is now furloughed was paid FIRST year pay for the whole first year, or fraction thereof that they worked for United.

Just a question. Like I said, I am not trying to upset any mainline pilots with my question.

Not that it didn't happen, but I think every regional in the country is waiting for the fall of MAG and hoping to open up a PHX base. You can read any of the other regionals threads on here and that is the hope and prediction for the last 3 years.

If you are talking about the hiring of a furloughed UAL pilot at a UAX carrier, they start at 2nd year pay because thats what their MEC negotiated for them.

SkyWest (or whatever else UAX carrier) pays them first year pay, UAL ALPA makes up the difference.

Being part of a union, it's something their union leadership negotiated for them to help minimize the financial impact to the furloughed pilot.

Interesting, mind posting the language? If it exists it's more than likely a transfer without seniority with no recall rights at ASA.

BTW, what’s the hire date of the last ASA furloughee? Mid 07? ish
