Be careful throwing those rocks from inside your glass house. This paint scheme I'm sure takes mainline jobs too: I was interviewed by mainline northwest for my job in that little jet!I think if anything we will be saving jobs with a flowdown! We dont fly for every major airline in the US and then blame each other for why the industry is bad. Enjoy the 190 |

http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviatio.../9/1527997.jpg At least the Compass airplane has the word Airlink after the NWA. All I see on the 190 is Midwest. Well, I guess we wouldn't want to parade a mainline size airplane off as a regional airliner now would we. That would just be bad form. Sorry fellas, but I die a little inside when I see this airplane. |
Makes me just want to PUKE, Hope all those RAH guys are are playing Eookie Cookie over that picture!
|
That pic really turns my stomach because i see my career progression going down the drains.... Right now I will defend the RAH pilot group as they had no way to stop this, but i do pray when their contract is up for negotation they fight and make damn sure they get what the majors are paying if not more to fly this bird, thats where we will see if the RAH group has a backbone. Please don't let me down guys

Bottom line is the RAH croanies are happy about this. You dont hear them talking about furloughs or downgrades do you? But you know what those who take shortcuts in life always end up getting theirs. COME ON SWA!!!! Sit back and watch SW dismantle RAH and with any luck the RAH clan can feel some of the pain they have inflicted on worthy Midwest families. |

I'm guessing the Midwest brand isn't going to be around much longer. I would imagine along with F9 they'll be renamed at some point.

My, friend, in case you never bothered to look, or were to naive to realize it, Air Willie 146 CA's were paid more than mainline 190 CA's. With the contract and hourly rate, AWAC pilots flying 50 seat planes will be making money hand over fist compared to your posted 190 rates. Maybe you should do some research and know your role... raise the bar. It seems that there are very few pilot groups that have the balls to do that anymore.

I've said it before, I'll say it again...for those who like revisionist history and refuse an apples-to-apples comparison:
The E175/190 CA rates in the CHQ 2003 contract through its duration are 2-3% higher than the B146 CA payrates in the ARW 2003 contract through its duration (or at least 2008, because I don't have the 2009 adjusted scales) beyond year 3 of longevity. And yes, I'll acknowledge (again) that the CHQ 2003 payscale essentially created an FO B-scale where the ARW B146 FO rates were 60% of B146 CA rates. YES, the ARW 2003 contract was concessionary, and YES ARW's concessionary work rules are better than RAH...but given that both CBAs were negotiated in the SAME ENVIRONMENT and went into effect on the SAME DATE as the CHQ agreement (and without ARW facing the threat of a non-union alter-ego airline being formed to take their flying), those rates aren't too bad. |

This is what you guys have been reduced to, junior high school style jokes. Pathetic. I remember back in the day, majors got upset when regionals first flew pressurized cabins. Then it was turboprops that upset everybody. The advent of the CRJ outraged many. The 70 seat RJ did the same. The CRJ900 sparked some outrage over changes in scope limitations. Now the 100 seater EMB190 is causing a stir. To those who choose to throw stones towards RAH, take a look in the mirror. If you're flying anything that I mentioned above, you're also a part of the problem. Tough to admit, but you must. |

NiCE!! You just made the day for hundreds of Emory Driidlle students out there. You just found the computer background of the month for them! As far as for RAH, I'm guessing posters are being erected allover the HQs and pilot lounges.

NICE!! Finally you can project your bankrupt morality on another pilot group. Just because GoJet isn't "in the news" right now doesn't mean you've all of the sudden been accepted. Our views of GJ pilots hasn't changed and there's no way we can take GJ pilot's opinion seriously on the subject of taking people's jobs.

I want nothing more than to work at a major, that is fading away rather quickly. My years at a major are being eroded. With that said, while I am at a regional, I'm glad i'm with a company that I can make a decent living and have decent work rules. Perhaps when I was in junior high, you should have been working on locking in a better scope clause in your contract. |
The airplane itself looks pretty good. Im sure it would look alot better with the midwest guys flying it for jet blue rates.

I saw one of these planes taking off in MSP today...reminded me of this thread.

Tough to admit, but you must. so what you're saying is that while they were in Jr. High there were several chances where the "experienced" Midwest guys (at whatever airlines they were at) could have created scope or done something to reduce or eliminate the slow erosion that allows what is happening now to happen? And by extension, other pilots at Majors to stop the slow erosion as well with scope? I think I agree with you there. What is interesting is that there have STILL been chances to fix the problem but nothing has been done over the years.... The career possibilities post 9/11 is the main reason RAH has senior pilots. There have been few places to go to with much security. SWA has had tons of applicants and could afford to be picky. UAL has furloughed a few times sending guys back to RAH, albeit with a HUGE seniority loss (some went back 2x). NWA-DAL will have new guys with a slim chance of seeing the left seat of anything. F9 is where it is today so if a RAH guy went he could go back (with a huge loss of seniority perhaps and worried about swinging gear there a second time)..... |
