According to an email they are offering a retirment plan for qualified individuals. If my calculations are right the max one can expect from an early out lump sum payment is $57,600 + whatever vacation time they have left. They also get flight benefits and COBRA for 18 months.
They are also offering an early out plan as well. I don't think they'll get too many takers on this, but who knows. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who need to rebuild their 401K for a couple of more years. |

I think at this point if I heard a Super senior guy, or anyone for that matter taking in ops of furloughs are better for him, so he can make money, I don't think im gonna think twice. Im just gonna sock em. I even may lose the fight. But at least I will have proved my point.
I know you're upset about what's going on, but we really need to resist the temptation to turn on our fellow pilots because of it. That sort of thing is management's wet dream. |

If you'd ever met JA I doubt you'd be socking him. He's about 6 feet tall, about 220, and a Tennessee Country Boy.

BUT I do agree with you!!! Hitting another pilot will end your career, not the way to go! Remember, not all the senior pilots feel this way and many would rather see us still there. They hate the extensions and red arrow days just as much as the junior pilots. This messes up their swaps, drops and trades. They are not immune to getting junior manned. If they need to extend someone and no one junior is available they will get screwed the same. P.S... never enjoyed the fights... win or lose... still walk away with some bruises. :o |

While I dont disagree with your assesment, I will say that some older guys would be better off acepting this, its going to take more than a couple years to put 58 grand into a 401K, youll probably never recoup that much in 3-4 years, unless you put about 1200 dollars of your own money a month into that 401K....just an observation, I think if I was the boat I would consider it for sure. Take it lump put it into your IRA.
Isn't the limit for an IRA $6,000 a year? |

it's almost unethical of skywest management to not have skywest airlines share the furlough pain. It's clear that they have no replacements for the 20 200's. In truth i feel they are slowly downsizing the airline untill it is only a shell of itself.
