If the ATP is required, very soon there will be Part 141 schools that are authorized to license pilots as ATPs with less than 1500 hours. As was mentioned before, quality vs quantity. Currently some 141 schools can give commercial tickets to guys with less than 150 hours vs the old 61 rule of at least 250. I'm not passing judgment on who is safer, but I'm sure other people with have their .02 cents or whole dollars worth, as it were.
