Well if someone would give me a job, I'll go fly over there. With the hotels we stay in at Mesa, trust me, I'm prepared for Nam.

I'm hearing intel now that it's going to be a wet lease program for airplanes only... whoever takes them will supply their own crews. That makes sense as it "uncomplicates" things greatly for ASA/SkyWest.

So they found a home for the 6 net aircraft loss, without helping our furloughees....good move for management, stinks for the pilots.

Everything I've read points to 900's so I don't see that being the case. JP seems to be correct most of the time but I don't know how we could wet lease planes we don't have unless they are 200's

IF there's any truth to this and IF it is about CRJ 900's and C-Series airframes, then this isn't going to happen anytime soon. There are no spare 900's lying around ready for re-deployment and the C-Series hasn't even flown yet and isn't scheduled for delivery any sooner than 2013. The only way it can happen any sooner is if it's about our extra 200's. And if it is and it doesn't involve ASA crews, then we're going to shrink a little--not the ideal plan, at least for the crews. So I don't think anyone needs to get their shots just yet.

O.K. this is what I know (oh, as a point of reference I'm a 13 yr Capt at ASA)

I was in the crew lounge gobblin' down some xmas turkey and Brad Holt walked in. After a little chit chat, someone asked him for a good rumor. He said "why don't you tell me some, it's more fun for me"

My F.O. told him that he heard about the Vietnam thing. He looked pretty surprised and simply said "yes". I was shocked, words like "NO WAY" or "you gotta be F%*&n kidding!" He then went on to explain that he just got back from Vietnam and that Skywest Inc was definetly looking at this. He said that it would be 900's and the new C series. He said that pilots could do rotation (maybe 90 days) and keep seniority at ASA. We talked some more about tax implication, visa requirements, etc.

Either they are really thinking about this or Brad is the master prankster of all time!

Stick
Maybe you should have shown him some of those pictures of Costa Rica on your phone, that would have lightened up the conversation a bit!
