mind you from the get go, whatever the hell Bedford and his cronies signed was a BLATANT violation of the RAH contract. this became an immediate action grievance and people were up in arms, pitch forks and flame in hand. well we all know how the grievance process works, and i can promise you the process at the RAH EXCO has got to be a much bigger CF.
a couple months passed with really no communication from the powers that be as to what was going down, then BAM...RAH announces purchase of YX. well folks the rest is really history. we end up buying F9, sign a real shady JV with mesa (the real effects still to come from that one), are attempting to integrate 5 separate pilot groups and that brings us to today.
Did anyone else see that Sean Menke is resigning from Frontier?

it is because i too believe there was way more to this whole situation from the moment RAH signed that initial deal with midwest that i wouldn't cry foul if there was at all what could be perceived as a windfall for these guys. how did that go down again? little history lesson, i believe the initial agreement was that RAH would fly 12 170's YX connect. the deal was they would fly those planes while YX mgmt got the Embrear program up and running and also try and negotiate new rates with their current pilot group (wonder how those negotiations went). there was some provision that if the two sides at YX couldn't come to an agreement after 12 mos. (again im very sketchy on the numbers, but was and have been on furlough from CHQ since before this went down and was trying to follow it all from the sideline), that after that 12 months the jobs would permanently become RAH.

Republic doesn’t know the first thing about branding, and something tells me that they aren’t too concerned about it. They think they’re on to something, and I think it could be disastrous for them. If Frontier loses its hometown loyalty, there’s nothing left. United (UAL) and Southwest (LUV) will be happy to welcome customers with open arms. And in Milwaukee? Well, there’s AirTran and Southwest knocking on the door there.
From Oped section of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Midwest Airlines
Glory days Over
Republic airlines announces a pre-tax loss at Midwest Airlines in the third quarter. Get used to it. By refusing to attempt to work out a labor agreement with experienced Milwaukee flight attendant and pilot unions, Republic is getting what it deserves.
It won't take long before Midwest Airlines becomes known as the "imposter airline" that flies the colors that were earned by those who were not allowed to become part of the new company.
Republic Chief executive Bryan Bedford is betting that the Milwaukee flying public is clueless. Mind you, Mr. Bedford, these are the same employees who willingly gave up concession after concession throughout the years to provide the Milwaukee public with the professional level of service Milwaukeeans came to expect and deserve.
Midwests reputation as a 25 year Conde Nast Award winner providing the "Best Care in the air" was built on the services of experienced crews who worked with a moral compass and a highly ethical set of professional standards. Bedford is the "Cheapest Care in the Air"- wth a cookie, of course.
Bedford is replacing homegrown flight crews with rookies who will work for little to nothing and provide services likely as poor. The days of taking pride in our hometown airline are over.

While I am sure this guy lives next door to a furloughed employee, and many of his assertions are not true, I think it speaks volumes about the local attitudes towards the airline. I see the results everytime I walk through the C-Concourse.
If I were Sean Menke I'd be runnin away too.

Bryan: Soooo, Sean, we’re gonna keep integrating and move everyone to Indy
Sean: Are you kidding me? You’re going to kill everything we’ve built at Frontier
Bryan: Bummer
Sean: I’m out
BB talks about how RAH is going to tap the "loyal" Midwest flyers, but consumers will know that RAH and the 190's are not the real Midwest. Same thing could happen in Denver, you book a flight on Frontier, you used to know you were going to be on an Airbus flown by F9 pilots (not talking about the markets Lynx serves). Now it could be RAH and the 190 to SEA for example, just like United and Mesa, etc.
This might just push more people to Southwest out of Denver, who know's?

how is a 190 different from the 717? besides the fact that it has lower operational costs, ignoring crew pay; and fewer first class seats, which were never full anyway. the days of an all first class midwest were gone long before republic showed up.
