I think Nevets hit it there. Unionizing would take care of this whole problem for you. ASA/Skywest should be one airline and on one list. ASA is shrinking and Skywest is growing. On a combined list, no one would be getting furloughed. Obviously Skywest does not want to deal with unionized pilots but maybe some stability would be nice through a contract rather than the company handing out a crappy health insurance plan.

There is NO way I would want to combine unless we had alpa. If we combined with no union, we would have no say in the matter, and would get screwed. I did my part, I voted alpa. I thought the timing on the last drive was poor, too many new guys. I called probably 15 of my friends that were relatively new and helped them research, and not be afraid to vote, be that yes or no. So all the armchair quarterbacks that really have nothing to lose need to S-T-F-U. Step one: alpa. Step 2: combine. That is the order it HAS to go, not the other way around.

And yes, winglets, you are correct. If we found out who you work for, we would most certainly discredit you. We would have to. There is virtually nobody in this industry who is innocent. If a passenger came in to your cockpit after a flight with a notepad and started listing off all the things you did wrong, how would you accept that? I would think, "who in the world is this? what are you?" I would want some CREDENTIALS. Now if that same person came up and said: "hello, I'm FAA administrator Randy Babbit, and I've got a couple of things I'd like to point out to you, no big deal, just a heads up for the future." I'd be all ears. The difference is credentials and the approach.

We all get it, wingnuts, you think we should merge. So do I. How many more times do you need to say it? You have made your point very clear. Thank you.

We are two separate airlines. It would be the same as Delta combining lists with Comair and Mesaba, why dont they do it? should be easy they are all ALPA right? Oh nevermind, different standard when its regionals vs majors right?

Soooo, ASA is Skywest's regional feeder?

Sad thing is, at the regional level even Mesa is all one list....

I would not be opposed to a "virtual list", which would allow transfers between lists. But it's not going to be a DOH list just in case you had any airways-esque misconceptions about that.
Your management would not be interested in a virtual list. I know because that was one of the counter proposals that XJT made to your management and they flat out rejected it. This is why I think the only way to correct any inequities is to unionize in order to more easily effect an integration.

Thats like saying that just becuase your neighbors got divorced, you shouldnt get married.

As for Midwest, my understanding is that all of them are going to be integraed into one list so that they can take their rightful place in a RAH flightdeck.

Delta combining lists with Comair and Mesaba would be ideal. What is wrong with that? They should do it. But that is not the same as ASA-SKW scenerio.

When MAIR owned both Big Sky and Mesaba, I dont remember people calling for one list? Not that I dont justify one list but at skywest, it would be hard to even vote in a union. Lately, any sapa election is tough to get any sort of pilot group involvement.

I did think it was funny to hear a fellow SKW pilot the other day say "no union will ever be on property because JA would instantly "furlough" 200 plus pilots". I dont know how anyone justify this, but he was dead set on this since he "knew JA".

Hmmmmm. Why would there be a sudden need to furlough 200 pilots when the company is planning something big? I say big because why else would they be hiring 600+ FAs?
