The federal minimum wage for covered, nonexempt employees is $5.85 per hour effective July 24, 2007; $6.55 per hour effective July 24, 2008; and $7.25 per hour effective July 24, 2009. The federal minimum wage provisions are contained in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which is administered and enforced by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Employment Standards Administration's Wage and Hour Division. Many states also have minimum wage laws. In cases where an employee is subject to both the state and federal minimum wage laws, the employee is entitled to the higher of the two minimum wages.

MARK OTTOSEN
Mark Ottosen was the former manager of the Jet Training program at Jet University. He was introduced as the "owner" to students that took Jet University tours prior to enrollment. He was one of three management executives at Jet University, but he was never officially an owner of Jet University.
He was President of Gulfstream Training Academy from 1998-2006.
Surprised a school that pays CFI's nothing, a school that cheated hundreds of student pilots and Wachovia out of millions of $'s, and a school that sells the right seat of an aircraft carrying airline passengers are all mixed up together? Interestingly, both Gulfstream and this Jet University place were funneling guys into Pinnacle. Is this Pinnacle connection just coincidence, or is Pinnacle associated with this whole thing too?

For those of us already in the industry, make every effort to try to council prospective pilots about these schemes to defraud them. You put on the white shirt, the epaulets, the tie, and even that hat (
yes, the hat) and all of a sudden, guys will listen to you, whether you're a 747 CA or just starting out in the right seat of a regional, or even as a CFI. If you live in South Florida especially, be on the lookout for these new pilots and consider talking with them for a couple minutes about the financial dangers of getting so wrapped up in becoming a professional pilot that they throw their lives into chaos. An afternoon and a couple $'s on some Cokes is $ well spent for the profession in the long run.
