Default Non-flying side jobs

Does anybody here have a non-flying job or own a small business? Thinking of doing something on my days off but haven't came up with anything that only takes 2-3 days/week to work.

I've started my own side business doing aircraft appraisals. I'm taking it very slow making sure everything is setup right. I've paid for most the startup costs out of pocket and I wouldn't plan on using it as a means to make a living but it's a decent little side gig based on what I've been told by several that do it. I haven't really gotten the ball rolling on it as a full scale business yet but I did just do a Citation 560, Super King Air 300, and a Citation XLS.

I enjoy stretching my legs in the GA world. It's nice to meet people and their aircraft. These three were just a lucky run-in with the right person. I don't expect business like this on a regular basis. My goal is 1-2 aircraft per month of mostly pistons. Just an idea I had that was flexible. I'd also recommend looking into being a substitute teacher. Not the best pay in the world but it is rewarding/fun and does put spare change in the pocket.

Web Design is a nice way to go. I enjoy it a great deal. It has taken me time to get going but I recently have started getting interest from clients.

Call around your local limousine companies and find one that needs a part time/on call driver, usually end up doing a bachelor party and raking in 100-300 in tips in one night and all the free lapdances you can take.

For a while I worked part-time for a company called Mosaic Sales Solutions (online at mosaic.com). It's a merchandising job where you primarily go into retail stores and do audits or assist the stores with various projects. They are all over the country. I worked in Best Buy, Target and Staples stores.

It was perfect for a 2-3 day per week schedule and I was able to learn some new skills. Having merchandising experience helps but not necessary. I took home about $500 per week doing it.

Hope that helps...

I've posted this before I think, but I do freelance writing work on the side. I used to work with an online company called TextBroker, but recently moved over to a company called Demand Studios because of higher pay. They pay $15 for a 400-500 word article, and I typically can do one article in 45-60 minutes with the research required. It's not a lot of money, but I can't complain about $15-$20/hr sitting at my computer in my spare time.

I have a really relaxed line at my "real" job, so I've been putting in the effort to make about $300 extra per week. You can make as little or as much as you'd like depending on how much work you want to put in.

$500/wk is more than I have ever made flying =( Good suggestions. After my furlough I was substitute teaching while on unemployment... definitely plan to do that part time once recalled. The flexibility of the schedule is great.

Volunteer your time at your union/association in hope that someday you will get paid appropriately and will not need to post thread on APC asking about side jobs
