Pinnacle class 8/07
#21
I worked for Pinnacle a while ago, left to get a job back home, commuting isnt for me but it wasnt a bad place work at when I was there so I really was curious as to where you were getting your information from and last I checked Continental was looking for offers to fly turbo-props and increase that type of flying not RJ flying. You can have all the new hire classes you want, that doesn't mean that upgrade time is going get any shorter. I guess you are probably hoping for attrition as well. However your situation might be, Good Luck!

Wow I can see that this thread has gotten interesting in the couple days that I have been on my trip.... As 9E being done I would say we are far from it. Yes we have parked 15 jets in the past but rumor has it they're comming back... Also the aircraft we parked were all our older ones.... Second there are no 40 seat jets at 9E there are 50 seaters some of which had some seats take out to meet mainline scope clauses however no true 40 seaters... As for the efficiency well look at CHQ and X-jet flying 135's you cant tell me that a 35 seat Jungle Trash is efficient either so thats a real week arguement. Also the 44 seat aircraft are slowly being cycled through MX and being converted back to 50. As for NWA looking for additional regionals well, yes there is and has been an RFP out for a long time now and the results were supposed to be in several months ago.... but never came. Bottom line the only carrier that operates 50 seaters cheaper than we do is Mesaba and they only have two aircraft and it looks like there might be a strike very near in their future (sadly the judge just voided their contract). But bottom line 9E is very far from being half submerged.... As for NWA itself I think they have bigger things to worry about such as what to do about their FA's and their current situation. As for why 9E has no other regional business... very simple back when NWA bought Express 1 (now pinnacle) part of the agreement was that we were not allowed to seek out any other ASA's.... So bottom line 9E is not allowed to fly for any other major.... The fix to that is the second certificate that management has been working on for the last several years that will allow a seperate regional owned by 9E to seek out other business....

Well, lets see SpaceMonkey said he has been there for 1 year and 8 months so that puts his pay at $24 hour or almost $10 hour less than skywest at the same time as an FO. Even worse is that is $5 hour less than 1st year at Horizon. The 2nd year pay at horizon in the rj is $19 hour more than 9e, thats almost 2x more pay per hour. This is what is wrong w/ 9e. Even 2nd year pay at Mesa (YEAH I SAID MESA!) is $4 hour higher than 9e.
OK so the FO's at other company's make $280(Mesa)-1260(Horizon) more than you each month.....
I guess there is more to life than money, but it isn't like your getting home to see those things either. Nice of you guys to be so charitable with non renewable resources.....your life!

Well you're right there are other FO spots out there that do make more money than me. Horizon ect... But on the other hand they will be sitting around a hell of a lot longer than me waiting to upgrade... and lets face 9E is not my career it is where I have come to get my time and move up... So bottom line its called sacrificing a little bit now so I can have something way better later on. As for not getting home well I get home plenty in fact I got 19 days off this month. Last month 18 days off, next month I can pretty much gaurantee that I will get somewhere between 17 and 19 days off again... Bottom line on my pay, well since I always fly pretty well above gaurantee (usually about 90 hours a month) plus all my perdeim try to max my TAFB Im guessing I will probably make about 30 or so this year which actually works out to be about average.

SpaceMonkey, didn't Pinnacle pilots just get a pay raise, or are about to? I was talking to another FO who said that there's going to be an 18% raise sometime in the next month or so. Just curious if that's true or not.

That is supposed to be part of the new contract.... and it was one of the items that ALPA heavily emphasized in negotiations. So from what I understand that will more than likely be in the new contract when it comes out. But we did get a memo sometime ago and I believe that 18% was the number that we asked for.
