Just out of curiosity where is the shorter reserve sit on the ERJ, DFW or ORD?

I think ORD is a little shorter.

1st year I would take ORD and commute on United or any airline except AA. You have to pay non-rev fees to ride on AA when you have less than 5yrs with the company, but UAL or any other airline would be free. DEN-DFW doesnt have very many non-AA options.

Fly, how about a commute from DFW? Would ORD or MIA be better? Or NY?

ORD, without a doubt. I did all three, ORD was the easiest.

From DFW to anywhere will be a tough commute. There are lots of AA guys who have been displaced to NYC/MIA/ORD and will be competing for the jumpseat with you.

Check passrider.com for a list of available flights from A to B and you can get an idea of what you have to work with. DFW-ORD has lots of options. DFW-LGA might be the second easiest.

Also keep in mind if you ride on AA in the back of the plane you will pay roughly $12-15 non-rev fee per leg when going somewhere. It can add up quickly if you take AA to/from work each week. If you are lucky enough to actually sit in the AA jumpseat then there is no charge. Flying on other airlines is free.

Depends where you are commuting to ORD from... places in the northeast can be hell from late spring to late fall for getting to/from ORD.... and you can count on the fact that I, and many others, will not be giving up the JS for an Eagle guy.... works both ways, I've lost the JS on Eagle to and Eagle guy... but if you're trying to tell them what base to go to, they need to consider the actual commute.

Yea, I was basing my post on DFW-ORD. He mentioned he would be commuting from DFW.

Has anyone gotten DFW out of training recently, if not how long would it tak to get there (on the ERJ)? How long are guys sitting reserve? DOH for the junior ERJ CA?
