I drove out today to make sure I know how to get there. I got in through the security gate by showing them my official offer letter :)

Loved the flight academy! I took a few pictures of the "American Airlines Flight Academy" sign out front...tried to get a picture of that sign in the entrance that says, "through these doors walk the best trained flight crews" but the lighting screwed it up...

Can't wait for tomorrow! I'll probably be in the lobby by 6:30...what time does the hotel shuttle drop everybody else off?

Man, glad they hired you. Your balls to the wall!!

Why are upgrade times so bad at Eagle? I've never heard of an upgrade time of less then 6 years at Eagle. My friend just got hired there and he heard new upgrade predictions of 4 years.

Even when upgrade times at other regional such as CHQ in 2007 were approx. 13-14 months, Eagle was at 6 years! This tells me that upgrade time at Eagle is not affected by the economy/airline industry as much as at other regionals yet its affected by some uknown factors to me.

I would love to get a job for Eagle because of personally desirable bases such as DFW and the new MIA (which I hear is fairly junior?) but it seems unreasonable and ridicilous to be on FO pay for 4-6 years!

Does it have anything to do with AA?

Does anyone know what the new numbers for hiring are? Last I heard it was 300 pilots by March. Has that changed?

I heard 620 new hires for 2011. Most junior capt was just awarded to a Feb. 2006 new hire.

Yes, Captains flowing to AA. But I think your views are unrealistic? So what's to say that you could pass initial training at an airline, if you've never done it? Let alone worry about an upgrade. They just don't send you through class and you're online? Whether it's at Eagle, or any other airline. Putting the cart before the horse?

While 6 years might seem like a long time, ask yourself this: Do you really want to be strapped to presumably your first jet and have the "Captain" sitting next to you have only 14 months experience? Kind of scary to think about. There are pros and cons to both sides of the upgrade question my friend ;) You don't want to be in the right seat forever, but you also need time to learn how to be a captain. If things go well the upgrade times may come down at Eagle, as they already have begun to do so. Only time will tell...
