I was looking at the ALPA interactive sen list and trying to figure out the status page.

It shows ORD EMJ as have 297 hard lines. Meanwhile, there are 319 FOs.

But there are 39 guys on reserve for next month.

Are some lines not getting filled?

Can you please share the company on that one? I'm sorry you had to deal with that!

Only though ground school, when you start the sims you get your own room.

if it's anything like us, you probably have new hires hitting the line who were not in any bid status and got assigned a reserve line... just a guess.

I started a while ago and we had single occupancy rooms, not sure when they went to 'doubling up'?

Thanks. I was going of what I found on the ALPA site. In OCT when I go to ORD I should have about 25 guys under me with more new hires on the way.

I really wish new hires didn't go to the CRJ and just went to the EMB.

Yeah i go to ORD in OCT and I wish for the love of mother and child they'd send people to the EMB too. Drives me nuts!

mwa1 08-30-2010 02:41 PM

alpa page is rarely up to date

look at the bid packets

AtlCSIP 08-30-2010 06:42 PM

How likely us it that a NFC new hire could be displaced to EMJ?

They are still very short staffed on the NFC, so I doubt they will be displacing out of that status anytime soon. We have been waiting to see if the company will award NFC spots to current EMJ FOs who tried to bid for it when the new equipment came to LGA, but even if the company allows that I dont think they will need to displace anyone. Anything could happen though!

Can the people bidding off of the ATR bid for either jet and any open base?

Yep, as long as there is a vacancy bid for the base/equip that you want. When you get on the ATR you have an 12 month seat lock. After that seat lock expires, you are allowed to bid to the jet.

AmericanEagleFO 08-31-2010 07:41 PM

I think it's a 12 month seat lock. I may be wrong.

andy171773 08-31-2010 08:36 PM

It's 12 month

Flyby1206 09-01-2010 12:42 AM

I changed it, thanks for the correction!

babs 09-01-2010 03:00 PM

How much vacation time do you get at eagle? When does it start?

down2mins 09-01-2010 03:20 PM

How necessary is it to have a car in training? Also, what bases/equip have they been offering lately? Thanks in advance!

FlyingPirate 09-01-2010 03:33 PM

I have few questions as well:

Bridgekeeper: What... is your name?

Bridgekeeper: What... is your quest?

Bridgekeeper: What... is your favourite colour?

Bridgekeeper
: What... is the capital of Assyria?

Bridgekeeper: What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

King Arthur
: What do you mean? An African or European swallow?

Bridgekeeper
: Huh? I... I don't know that.
[he is thrown over]
Bridgekeeper: Auuuuuuuugh.

Sir Bedevere
: How do know so much about swallows?

King Arthur
: Well, you have to know these things when you're a king, you know

A. VACATION ACCRUAL
1. Vacation time will accrue based upon Company seniority date, by month of active service and days will be credited on December 31 for use in the following year.
2. Pilots will accrue vacation at the following rates:
Years of Service Calendar Weeks
1 year 2
5 years 3
15 years 4
20 + years 5
3. Effective January 1, 2000, a pilot who completes twenty (20) years of service during 1999, will be eligible for 5 weeks of vacation in the year 2000.
4. A pilot who has completed less than a full year of active service by December 31, will be eligible for prorated vacation (at the rate of 1.167 days per month) for the following calendar year.
5. If a pilot is hired on or before the 15th of any month, he will be considered to have completed that month of service.

Its not necessary, unless you dont want to go insane by being stuck at the hotel for 6 weeks straight :) Sometimes groups of newhires will pitch in and rent a car for a weekend to go out on the town. I havent been to our new hotel location, but have heard there isnt a heck of a lot close by for entertainment.

Check the last couple pages of this thread for base/equip. Lots of ORD EMJ, LGA CRJ, SJU ATR.

Not as necessary as other places I've been in long term training at. Within walking distance you have Taco Bell/Burger King/KFC/Waffle House/Wendy's/Starbucks/Whataburger and a few others. There's a good BBQ place open Fri, Sat, Sun only close by too. Hotel van will take you to Walmart or Kroger any evening between 6:30 and 9:30. As others have said, there isn't a thing to do for entertainment. Both hotels have a pool and workout facilities. Other than that, you'll have plenty of time to study!

Do you already have a class date, or are you waiting for the call for one? If you have one, when is it?

DashDriverYV 09-03-2010 07:39 AM

PM me if you go on 9/13

HighSpeedTaxi5 09-03-2010 09:20 AM

Good Afternoon, at AE what is a typical training week like? are your weekends free for studying? How does it all work

Natca 09-03-2010 09:42 AM

7 or 8am till 4 or 5pm in the class room weekends are yours to have - that is before sim school I would add.

down2mins 09-03-2010 10:04 AM

How much is within walking distance of the La Quinta? Trying to decide if I want to make the 2 day drive down to have a car there....

Drive bro. It's Dallas. There's other things to do when you want some time to yourself. Go check out a Cowboys game. Party passes are $25 from the ticket office or $65 from the scalpers.

Up to you tho.
