I think if you fail ATP or quit Eagle after your hire date, you pay it back. There might be a couple other stipulations, but I thought I read something about NOT having to pay it back if you wash out of Eagle training.
Pretty sure you are right. Also, if you quit after one year at Eagle, you only pay half of it back.

Are even LOWER minimums coming? Me thinks wet comm/multi...
I don't think we are there yet. People with more than 800/1000 hours are not being invited to interview and they will hire wet commercial pilots?
I surely hope not! BTW, everyone seems to have forgotten the 1500 hour rule!! Isn't it going into effect soon?

ERJF15,
I think "What" was referring to the FAA's rest/duty rule. Its final rule was due to be released Aug 1, 2011--but was delayed (until November/forever) due to FAA budget/political pressure/business pressure (from 135/cargo operators?). I don't know all the background, and being a new hire, I don't have an informed opinion on this industry's rest rules (yet)...but it seems like FAA delays on rest/duty reform = business as usual on this issue.

Summer of 2013 is when it goes into effect.... Plenty of time...

As for hiring another 350 this year, I really doubt it. The class sizes have been getting a bit smaller, and to get 350 in the rest of this year would require 45-50/class and the biggest ive seen since may was around 36... I bet 200 is a more realistic number, maybe less....

@stryker

Are the class sizes becoming smaller because the company wants it smaller because they only need so many pilots for now OR Is it because that they are not finding enough quality people to fill those classes.......

Probably because the lack of new hires. Last year after passing interview it took about 1.5 to 3 months to get into class. This year I've seen people getting the call 2 weeks later after passing interview.

I think its several things. First its probably due in part to them not having enough people to fill the classes like they would like. Second eagle is having issues accomodating the large class sizes (I.e. sim time and instructors) it is getting better but like anything else it will take time. The numbers I heard were a total of about 700 this year and 750-850 next year as well. As with anything in this industry these numbers could change at a moment's notice.
