As a famous lady of the evening once said, "they would say that, wouldn't they?". Mandy Rhys-Davies, I think.

AA will likely need Boeing or Airbus financing, no point in making enemies if them at this early date. While the deal is out there, until the planes are on the ramp, it's a rumor. The next question is, are they additions or replacements? If replacements, and all bets are that AA is smaller exiting Ch11, then it means little for hiring.

My personal bet is that AA forces some B-scale into the picture and creates a game changer with the new planes like they did in '83. At third place, AA needs to change perceptions of its product and value. Not dayin' I want a B-scale, but that is what AA wants. That and reorder their whole route system to look more like SWA.

AA proposed one in their last offer--lower rates for new hires or, in this recent case, a lower pay rates for the B737/A320 planes. Lower than the formula would result in.

My guess is about halfway between CRJ7 pay and present B737 pay, minus pension, AA work rules, etc. Hard sell, but the judge might buy especially when you look at its history of growth at AA in the Eighties.

I don't want to burst your naivete bubble, but AMR has been planning this BK for a while now. Boeing and Airbus were probably already privy to it, and those aircraft are still coming. Fact.

Dan Garton knew BK was coming as did every other exec within AMR. The hiring projections at Eagle are based on future projections, not any current situation. They all know that regardless of any BK ruling they will need pilots to staff their fleet. They also know how many pilots they are set to lose within the next few years.

Don't underestimate just how much "in the know" AMR is about this whole thing. Some of you are acting like we just came out of the clouds and hit a mountain....as if this is all some big surprise.

More importantly, most of you are just doom and gloom cheerleaders. Just like the Joker in the Dark Knight...you just want to watch the world burn. In this case, the "world" is American Eagle/ the Airlines.

News flash: Delta, United, Continental, UsAir, etc... all filed Chapter 11 long before AMR did. And when they did they were in a much worse situation than AMR is right now.
Once again, you obviously don't understand how bankruptcy works in the airline industry. You're still drinking that all mighty Eagle Kool-Aid. Apparently we can see what your goals are by your Avatar. You're the monkey parading around all these forums with your .02 worth about as much as AMR shares. It seems you've got it all figured out and from what you wrote above you mine as well have been the one filing the bankruptcy petition.

I wish you the best of luck and if you haven't paid attention to what happens to wholly-owned regionals then ask the guys over at OH, XJ, and CP. You'll find out soon enough what it's like to not own your planes and basically just be a staffing company. Better yet, wait until someone buys you up dirt cheap out of bankruptcy and merges you into their regional mess.

I guess no worries since you've got it all figured out and your little crystal ball is just glowing away!!

Just to let you know, if you don't, if AMR convinces the bk judge that your little contracts are too much and need to be adjusted and he/she agrees, well, let's just say we'll be seeing you on here b***h and moan about that. Wait, never mind. You're crystal ball will see that one coming.

Your a hypocrite, you cry how he has it all figured out, yet you do the same thing. Whats your gripe cruster? Did you get a DUI or something and cant play airlines? Did you have a bad run with them? You can not compare XJ and BK since they have nothing to do with each other, and OH is such a completely different ball game is not even intellectually useful to compare them. If we want to be intelligent we should make a statement like, well most airlines shrunk mainline in BK, and saw a growth in regional, so much of Eagles fate relies on if the judge thinks it makes sense to put them at Eagle or to have someone else fly it. Go get a hobby, sitting on here being a crustball is a lame one, and it is not going to get you back whatever you did wrong or had happen to you over the years to make you so crusty.

How is it that you cannot compare XJ?

OK, how about some "objective" doom and gloom...................

We cannot afford to retain all the aircraft currently in the American and American Eagle fleets at their current rates, and so we have no choice but to make substantial reductions"

Additionally, to conserve our liquidity, subject to the requirements of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, during the 60-day Section 1110 period, we plan to make payments when due of aircraft rent and mortgage principal and interest payments only on certain aircraft in our fleets,” the company adds"

So there it is. Will the company cease-No.

Will there be reductions (read-less aircraft, ie, less piolts) Yes.

Should a 5 or 10 year seniority pilot be worried-Only about the coming pay cuts!

Should anybody hired this year (or last) be concerned-Keep sending out those resumes and keep interviewing. You don't have to accept an offer but keep multiple eggs in your basket!!

Hey you forgot to quote the part of the letter that says that AMR will be acelerating their aircraft fleet renual, you cut the middle of the paragraph intentianly to make it fit your agenda. Thanks for the miss information!

We cannot afford to retain all the aircraft currently in the American and American Eagle fleets at their current rates, and so we have no choice but to make substantial reductions in the cost of the aircraft which we retain. Moreover, in view of the large number of aircraft we have on order from Airbus and Boeing, we also seek to accelerate our fleet renewal strategy and, as a result, we do not require the use of all aircraft currently in our fleets. Additionally, to conserve our liquidity, subject to the requirements of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, during the 60-day Section 1110 period, we plan to make payments when due of aircraft rent and mortgage principal and interest payments only on certain aircraft in our fleets.

Ya but that fleet renewal unfortunately doesnt include aircraft for Eagle. They will shrink eagle and IF they relax scope it will be new feed getting the flying and having to acquire their own airplanes to do so AMR isnt liable. Someone said AMR is a control freak, well look at what happened obviously they cannot control anything so they are following everyone else and dumping excess cost from their wholly owned subs. BK is for cutting costs not adding them. Whats a Renual?
