I can actually answer that. LOL. I spoke with the furlough Coordinator yesterday with a series of questions. Here is what I asked. Also if your one of the 56 that received a letter, don't forget the conferance call this afternoon. He may have better or more informative answers then this so make sure you listen in.
What are the class sizes going to be?They want to keep them around 10 a peice. Most have chosen the earliest class to start. Others they will work with on the remaining class dates. How is the pay going to work? Will we pick up where we left off with pay, or will we be receiving pay as if we never left? Meaning raises included. Pay starts as soon as class does and will be at what ever pay you left the company with at your guarantee rate. so if you left at first year pay, you come back at first year pay. If you had 3 months till a raise, then thats all you will have left till your next raise. How long is the training? What does it entail? Training length depends on Aircraft assignment and your previous assignment. If you were on the 200 and assigned to the 200, your training should involve a week of systems and then 4 sims. You were on a different airframe then what you recieve, then you will likely have an addtional ground training for differences and possibly a couple more sim sessions. How soon will I be in CASS? To show up in CASS will take a couple of days due to all the paper work. What can we expect as far as aircraft placement? The current pilot group will of course get first pick of A/C placement prior to the furlough's return. But that doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be any 700 positions available. It sounded like we will know what Aircraft will be available to bid on sometime early next week. From what I can tell everyone is to bid at once regardless what class you chose/were given. And of course its seniority based. Now he still may have a better answer on the conferance call. Is there going to be a domicile bid as a result of us coming back? There could be. Again will not know until either the call or next week. We have to see what kind of movement will take place prior to our return. As a side note. There were only 15 FO's that wanted to be in IAD. There are 45 lines and 15 reserve positions. Hope all this helps in answering any questions. |
It doesn't look like too many FOs in IAD have put their bids in for ATL, there are currently 12 IAD FOs with bids in for ATL. There are 4 or 5 FOs in ATL with bids in for IAD. Going on that, I would guess that 10-15 of the furloughs coming back will go to IAD and the rest back to the 50 and 70 in ATL.

Everyone leave IAD, it's HORRIBLE ( then I can be # 1 hahahaha )

A furloughed pilot, including a pilot on voluntary furlough, will retain and accrue seniority while on furlough and will retain and accrue longevity while on furlough and receiving pay in lieu of notice. Section 23-B-1. Recall a. A pilot will be recalled in order of seniority. When a pilot is recalled, his longevity date will be adjusted forward by the amount of time spent on furlough. Since all pay is based on longevity, according to what the contract says, if you worked for 2 years and then were on furlough for a year, you should come back with 3rd year pay and your pay increases will still be based off your original hire date. Am I reading the contract wrong? |

That's not how I read it in the contract... Here is what it says:

I'm fairly certain all furloughees received appropriate notice from the company and no one was placed on furlough and received pay in lieu of notice. Regardless... if anyone was, I don't believe they would have accrued more than a week or two of additional longevity.
"When a pilot is recalled, his longevity date will be adjusted forward by the amount of time spent on furlough." I thought the "pay in Lieu" part was in the case that you were furloughed and you happened to hit your hire dated during the "pay in lieu" period, you will still get your pay raise during that period. But in Section 23 B 1, it states that when we come back, longevity will be adjusted forward. |

That is true but what about Section 23 B 1 for recall:

I see some people talking about being part of the 56 on the list. Is it 42 or 56? Did I miss something?
