I dont see where AE will be closing SJU from that article. Yes, AA has reduced SJU from hub status to focus city, but that is a long ways off from AE closing shop in SJU.

SJU WILL NOT BE CLOSED - it was an error in the quotation from the editior.

but it not necessarily a long way off either. all bets are off this Fall. AMR cannot continue to bleed without response - Wall Street is crucifying them now

I guess FNG "Gordo" wants the "fun" of risking your family's future every couple years with negotiations/strikes. He prefers being whipsawed by 7 competing regionals.

Alright, Eagle guys, flame away, but from an OH outsider, I'll take your "nightmare" anyday. You have an exclusive agreement with mainline (except Alter Eagle/TSA/CHQ from the TWA deal).Your "Slow and steady wins the race" contract has put you near the top of the regional heap for pay, and duty rigs are negotiated periodically. After alot of fighting, the flow-through actually worked. You had ALOT less pilots furloughed during the downturn, and brought them all back + hiring...

Ya, no regional's perfect, but some of those "nightmares"don't look so bad!!

I 100% agree and as an AE FO I would not want to trade places with any other regional carrier. We have had it very good here, and our contract is one of the better ones. As for the future, even if things get "bad" it will just be bringing us to the level of pain that most other regionals currently operate under. I really do feel for the OH guys... I hope justice is served someday!

We dont call it "the rock" anymore. As RJ Pilot said, you will have a much better experience if you avoid that line

With SJU shrinking (but not closing!!) there are more newhires that get sent to the jet, or ATR in MIA/DFW. The people who go to SJU are usually ones who want to be there which makes it a really great base.

Default Flow thru what??!

Wow, you can hammer on my previous comment, but I think you are merely proving my point. The "it's not that bad" and "other's have it worse" is exactly what I am talking about. Several of you have already given up on fighting for a good contract. No, the 16 year contract was a turd, and no matter how much you polish it, it is still a turd.

As for those who say "the flow through is working" you must be kidding! Let's see, a total of 35 pilots will (oh wait, let's make sure they actually go first), but yes, 35 TOTAL pilot flow thru to AA. If this were proposed again on a contract based on flow thru and I said only 35 will go, is that what will do it to make you vote for another 16 year deal? I'm sure the next 35 senior CA's would like that, but the 3,000 or so others may see that as something they will never benefit from! Wake up! You got 35 pilots to go to AA and hundreds of F/O's are working well past the pay rate cap of 8 years.

I am sure AMR loves the fact that a few of you AE guys are saying we have had a great deal. Especially with Spirit in a strike. They know the Eagle pilots will never strike because of no backbone! (even if it were allowed, which under the current 'great' contract, you can't strike)

I still say, SELL SELL SELL.

I thought that deal was gone, done, finito..?
