Embraer can overhaul them into essentially new aircraft for less than a production cost of a new one, but I doubt the savings is enough to warrant a 190 in trade for even 5.

My guess is Budwieser will be making a move on these birds in the fairly near future..............unless Coors gets there first.

Legacies aren't simply 135s with fancy interiors. They use engines from the XR model, winglets, and a fuel tank system unique to the Legacies. Aside from the bare frame there's not that much in common to the airplanes. Plus they have a Legacy plant churning out airplanes at a good clip. I think the benefits would not outweigh the costs of a conversion.

However! I wouldn't be surprised if some enterprising company isn't looking at doing a basic conversion to old ERJs. There are quite a few old CRJs that have been refurbished. They dont' go as far as the planes built from scratch as biz jets but you can't beat the price of a "gently" used CRJ-100/200 or E135.

From sources within jet blue management on the acquisition of eagle and trading in the emb 145s for 190s - "The deal will be finished in no more than 14 months." Get your popcorn ready!

So a 2 for 1 (or more) EMJ for E-190 trade, massive furloughs coming to Eagle with the inevitable downsizing, plus the possibility of Eagle being used to circumvent AA's scope or replace JetBlue pilots......yeah we'll all need some popcorn.....

Although I agree with you that they would trade some 145's for 190's, I think eagle would still keep some 145's for some routes.

Southwest and Airtran don't have to fill up 777's to Heathrow and Narita, but I like your way of thinking. After viewing the latest AMR finance report, they might be better off selling both Eagle and their international operations and following the Southwest/Air Tran model for better profitability. What do you think?

True, until the next gas crisis, then all older jets including MD-80s, will be parked.

The 50-seat+ turboprop market won't be as heavily impacted by a sharp rise in fuel prices.
