Good thing they've always been able to ride the coattails.

Good that makes me happy and i don't care if they gave you guys 100% of the growth for the next 50 years. Just as long as I don't have to share the cockpit with an xjt or asa union pilot.
Also if this is true then "I told you so". There was nevery any doubt in my mind that the union would cave and they have proven once again how useless they are.

Well to all my ASA brotheren I look forward to working with you guys and the adventure of forming the largest regional in the world. While we did not get one list at least we will be one of the largest airline members of ALPA and should get a LOT of attention from ALPA national in negotiating our new JCBA as it will set the new standard for regionals.

best of luck to xjt and asa pilots. i spent 5.5 years at coex and although i did not like the company because they first did not lije their employees, their aircraft were well maintained and clean, their training became great and overall i really liked the people who worked there. I know a lot of ASA folks as well from school and thus, i wish the best for both pilot groups. now if the keyboard warriors on this thread speak for a majority of skywests pilots then all i will say is it will only cause asa and coex to unite fast and furious.

As for the swords, we don't have swords out, we have shields out. You are the one with the sword. Like I said, we don't need 2800 rabble rousers coming over here and thumbing their noses at the hand that feeds us. So if that's what you guys intend, just tell Jerry no thanks, and take your chances alone. That's all I've got.

Well if we have a solid contract then there would be nothing a new CEO can do to change it right?

Nevets, what you and your buddies don't seem to "get" is that this is a job, not a fraternity. Do I care more about feeding my family than I do about "upholding the profession" as ALPA puts it? You're darn right I do! In fact, that's why ALPA is structured as independent MECs under their umbrella. You fight your fight, I'll fight my fight. But when your fight threatens to negatively impact my career and my ability to provide for my family, YOU become the target!
As I said many times, we were fine before this merger was proposed and we will be fine without it. But I am NOT going to welcome you guys with open arms so you can come in and burn down my company with your anti management spew.
For a long time at ASA, it was "us vs. them". We had a horrible management team, and ALPA carried a big stick and towed a hard line the entire time Delta owned us. It was mutually assured destruction. And the company stagnated. SkyWest came in and showed us that everyone is happy when management and labor work together, and the company prospers. Of course we need protections in our contract, but grabbing the company by the cajones just because you can is never a good idea. What's good for the company is also good for us, because our careers depend on the long turm survival and profitability of the company! but too many ALPA groups don't get that. They want to rape the company at every opportunity and get everything they can. We're not like that anymore. And we don't want 2800 pilots coming over who are. Again, that's bad for MY career.
Yes, I'm looking out for number one. Sorry to disappoint you, but ALPA is my career insurance, not a fraternity. Good luck with your decision to take the deal or leave it.
