Really? Thats why ALPA was started? To tell pilots what they should do? Or is to tell the company what we will do? Does ALPA represent us to the company or does ALPA represent the company to us? Put the koolaid down man. Please read Flying the Line 1 and 2. It will help you I promise.

Really?? I don't even know where to begin to argue with stupid comments like this.

Yeah...wasn't ALPA born out of pilot pushing?

It'd be nice, but the approach I'm taking with it is that it gets done when it gets done. We can't let the effects of management's poor decisions set the tempo for our negotiations if it will compromise the quality of our contract. And to come up short with a "working contract" would be a waste of everybody's time since it'd get voted down anyway. Management's pressure aside, we need to get it right the first time even if it drags out past the end of the year.

The MEC has been very clear on the strategy they are taking to get this done:

"One contract that takes the best of XJ current book and the 9E TA, combine them so that no one is going backward."

They are not trying for anything better than what XJ has right now, it's not the time for that. Don't expect more.

Look at this way, what if they were able to get XJ's current contract for everyone (Dec 1rst rates of course).

This would be a victory in itself.

Do you think PNCL management would have ever let 9E have a contract of XJ quality with the way they have been negotiating for the past 6 years? No way in hell. Colgan? please.

And XJ guys get benefits also:

10+ year captains don't have to go back to the right seat.
3 year FO's can start looking at an upgrade instead of a furlough.

Years of whipsawing between XJ and 9E, and the current whipsaw of Colgan, done.

Everyone being able to take advantage of this new network of aircraft and bases.

This is a victory for everyone and no one has to give up anything if they can get this done according to plan. And I haven't given up hope that they can work this out, because management needs it as bad, if not worse than we do.

Your XJ contract is not as "amazing" as you think compared to the TA2 items. The finalized money stuff would result in a TA, but the idea of taking the XJ contract and moving on would actually be a pay cut for many simply to insurance costs alone.

If they go by their plan no one goes backward and those things will be just another example of benefits for everyone.

And I don't want just the XJ contract, I want the good things from the 9E TA also.

From a furloughed guy at a fellow ALPA carrier, I wish ya'll the best. 9E, 9L, and XJ pilots deserve the best. I also doubt that this will be stamped by the 15th. If it's anything less than the good XJ contract plus the good stuff from the 9E TA, then I would vote NO.

It sounds like, for the most part, the three pilot groups will be able to come together and reap the benefits. I hope this yields a successful outcome and sets the tome for future mergers/acquisitions.

*Tone. oops.

The f/o payscale at XJ is ridiculous! Our MEC has said raising it is a top priority. I am not voting yes for anything that doesnt add some dollars to our payscale...period.

ShyGuy 11-03-2010 10:26 PM

Put your panties back on folks, we ain't gettin no contract Nov 15! The last email update from our 9E MEC says it all.
