I just heard a strange rumor about this topic. Apparently xjt upset embraer a few years ago by making them prepare a factory to produce XR's again but backed out of the deal at the last minute. Skywest went to embraer to shop for a tentative deal on 70+ seat aircraft and were not given a preferential delivery time line. Skywest already has a strong relationship with Bombardier and they are willing to give skywest the most flexibility. This order was put together to secure a more favorable delivery schedule in the future. I dont think an e175 is coming to any company owned by skywest anytime soon.

Interesting. Also on this. I have heard from all kinds of people in all kinds of positions that Delta does not care for the E175 or E170. Burns too much gas and needs a jetway or stairs.

Who knows if it is true but I have heard it.

Why is there not an american made regional jet of some sort?

I'm not sure about the fuel thing. But part of RA's "seamless" experience with delta/delta connection flights includes having as many jetway's as possible. I doubt having to have a jetway isn't much of an issue because they would rather have it that way. There will alway's be CRJ's or some sort to fill that need.

Delta doesn't care if it is American made. They want what is going to save them money. That will probably end up coming from China/Japan/Russia or something like that. As with most things these day's, manufacturing in America is too expensive for most American companies. Goto Sears and look at all the Chinese made Craftsman tools now. The C-series is as close to home as it is probably going to get.

If Skywest have good relationships with bombardier, perhaps they might get a good deal on the C-series.

Those horizon jets are pretty nasty. I sure hope they can get them painted and looking good at the least. They fly all squirmy and the control yoke likes to shake around in an odd way. Just feels weird.

SKW will not buy any CS's. We are restricted by scope and there will be no more scope relief allowing larger aircraft.
