HELL NO!!!! Those planes belong nowhere near SkyWest. mainline airplanes belong at mainline. Just cause it's made by bombardier doesn't mean it's a regional. Heck, the Ejet should be at mainline!! The rj for that matter.

Ha, agreed. I hate flying with dudes that can't wait to fly bigger jets.... at their regional!

I wanna fly something one day that does not say anything such as express, connection or the like.

If this C series hits the scene hopefully it is mainline that fly's it and not some 62 year old captain and his 45 year old fo at ASA. Just sayin.

Also, not sure if it is on the news but it is snowing in the A.

I predict that SkyWest buys C Series and flies them under their own code within the next 5 years. ASA/XJT will be the "Super Regional" and SkyWest will be the mainline.

How'd that work out for ACA/Indy?

C'mon man, that's like saying "how did running a legacy carrier work for Pan Am or TWA?" Not everyone will succeed but that doesn't mean it's an impossible task. Last time I checked there were a few pilots that killed themselves in perfectly good airplanes. Yet I still go to work every day and succeed.

The difference will be that SkyWest et al will be codesharing, not competing with United. They'll sell the tickets for their "regionals" and we'll all operate 100 seaters (buying our own fuel) for less money than mainline. I'm not excited, but I'm also not sticking my head in the sand about this.

I'll buy that, but Tony said nothing of it being solely 100+ seaters. Sounded to me like a mix of CRJ200's and C series, hence my ACA remark.

Well what about the 50 seaters? They are on the way out correct? Maybe all these new airplanes, though bigger, are their replacements? I mean they're not gonna replace the 200's and 145's with another 50 seater jet right? Not saying a C-series size aircraft should be flown by a regional, it should be flown by mainline. So, this is my thought. We at the regionals will be flying CRJ-700/900, and E-170s and MAYBE Q-400 type turboprops. I am of the opinion that the new United will not be able to cap the scope at 50 seats. Maybe something more like 70 or 76 seats. Similar to what Delta has. I pray that thats as high as it gets. I'm pretty sure that the union and its pilots will not let it go higher than this. C-series will go to mainline, if they come to be. This is just my opinion and I realize that everyone has their own. So, feel free to disagree. I know that people on this site get very sensitive about this.

I think the ball is in CAL and UAL pilots court. It really is dependent on their senior pilots. How much are these senior pilots ready to "give" to get back scope. If you ask a guy who is mid-50's to give up 25-45 grand a year in potential income so the future pilot group will be stronger... that is a tough sell. the junior guys are all for burning the place down for better scope but the senior guys generally dont care where the pilot group winds up once they are gone. I think you might see the current number of 70 seaters cut and more aircraft in the 100 seat range flown by mainline similar to usairways.
