Its my opinion that they take advantage of rest periods very similar to Mesa. Chuck would Rather have an extra 25 bucks in his pocket than to put us up in a hotel when we repo to another city.

Those numbers are rediculous.

More realistically...

Turbo Prop FO: 45K
Turbo Prop CA: 65K
RJ FO: 50K
RJ CA: 80K
737 FO: 100K
737 CA: 190K
747 FO: 150K
747 CA: 245K
The difference is they are not working 16 hour days for 4 hours of pay, they are not responsible for the lives of the families in the back and most of the time they have not put $100,000 into a career and have corporate greed cut them down to nothing.

Name one other business that the company has said to the bread winners, sorry but we are going to have to take half of the money we pay you and for good measure we will not be paying the retirement package you signed up for. Sure people people loose there jobs along the way but no other industry hoses people on this scale anywhere.

Frankly your numbers were really not that much different than hate2breakit2ya's sad that an RJ captain should make less than a 74 gear puller though.

Flame on!!!!!

Hmm... steel, textiles, autos, software data entry, machine tool, paper.....

I suggest reading "The World is Flat" sometime, and never, ever count on a retirement package surviving as long as you. That's why I like 401k's - they pay up front.

Maybe a $15,000 training contract. Just one thought though.

401k's are fine for extra buffer, but it will be tough to maintainyour current standard of living in the retirement years with just a 401K due to the IRS limits, even if you play catch up begining at 50.

That is unless you have a low standard of living.

Redeye,

True dat. Even with a "traditional" retirement I'd still run an IRA and a brokerage account to store money away in besides a 401k - the one thing you can be pretty sure of is your retirement will pay less than you thought. And the 401k is much more labor intensive to get the maximum return.

My comment about the 401k was more to that if the company goes under, the money is yours and won't get taken away.
