Thank all of you for your respones, here is more about my situation:
I'm scheduled for a class with Eagle on March 28th bases & equipment not known yet untill the first day of ground school but the options are (EMB-145, ATR-72 or CRJ700).
one the other hand I'm schedule for a class on April 4th with Republic which I'm going for the EMB-145 (Chautauqua).
my career goals is to fly the big jets and to be honest with you I can't get to a decision yet...
I would go for republic if they gonna offer me the EMB-170 with Shuttle America but that is not the case now. I asked for this specific aircraft and was told that they will inform me incase they will have a place for me there.
Keep it going with your opinions, I really need advices!
Thanks

Very good points. I have been with Republic for 3 years and half of it on furlough. It sucked.. ask anyone that had to do that he/she will tell you how bad it is..
What other poster said is true.. Trading trips are hard, but it is not impossible.
upgrade is not at the level of 2006 - 2007 but there isn't any other regional that has faster upgrades.
This is a stupid discussion of which regional is better mentality.. guess what? regional is a regional is a regional..
So, you will have to make your decision based on what your needs are.. Good luck with whichever company you decide to go with..

Actually, that's not true. Look at Colgan, Compass, Great Lakes, & GoJet. All have much quicker upgrades then any certificate at RAH.

Eagle is being split from American. If they are still around after a couple years, they will probably end up being bought by either Republic or SkyWest.
Any pilot going to Eagle risks being furloughed after a year or two. Better to go to Republic and still have a job in 5 years.

Things that should be considered when applying, interviewing, and accepting offers from regionals: Commute, pay, work rules, stability (or lack there of, we are talking about regionals), did I say work rules? There are a lot of things I wish people would have told me before I dove in head first to the industry, but those are the big ones. It's good to see you guys asking questions on here, there's a lot of good info. Make sure you're inquiring about the things that are really going to affect your life for the foreseeable future. You'll be an FO for a while, and your SIC time isn't worth a turd burger.
Hope for a quick upgrade, vote for better contracts, and there might just be a snowball's chance in hell that 20 years from now the industry will be in better shape than when we entered it.
As for your particular situation 1985, leaning one way or the other with Republic or Eagle is a tough call. I'd say the good at Eagle out weighs the good that Republic has at the moment. The only kicker with Eagle is there's a lot of talk of AMR kicking them to the curb. That would definitely stir things up. Best of luck with your decision, hopefully you make it based on the right factors.

Ask the Midwest express ALPA pilots whom you should work for? Eagle is known by the Majors as the worst of all the express carriers and Republic and its Lorenzo-esque Brian Bedford, is in existence to bust pilot unions..his words, not mine. So pick your poison as they both are horrible places to work, unless you check your principles at the door, that is.

No guarantees, but since both Republic and Skywest are established as independent carriers and Eagle is not, which do you think has the better chance of still being here five years from now?
