Although it is very hard to forecast anything in aviation with any certainty (due to the huge number of variables), I imagine this date won't have the impact in hiring that so many are hoping for. I'm guessing we will see the explosive hiring in the regionals to make way for the huge orders of CRJ900/EMB170s that will replace a lot of narrow-body flying presently being flown by the majors. Economically, it just makes sense. Especially in an industry with razor thin margins. The major's limp unions and their history of giving away the farm to protect the top, will only continue.

I was referring to the Mayan Calendar and the end of all things.

Is it me, or is Delta an enigma? Everyone thought they would dump RAH when we bought MEA and F9. They announce 8 170s in Jan. They announce routes out of MCI that directly compete with RAH. Now they add 6 more 170s today.

I doubt we'll see a displacement. The 190's are still coming, a little late due to the whole Japan ordeal. Should be an upgrade bid out here shortly. Also the latest FO vacancy for new hires had a good amount of MKE slots. Looks like some routes are going to 145's as they come off lease.

As much as a displacement wouldn't surprise me...there's no way they would do a displacement now. The 190's/195's will get here and when they do, they'd have to do a displacement right back, which would double their training costs. Now that I've said they won't do it, I guess it'll happen.

Still a net loss for the RW certificate. Fourteen 170s going to S5 and last I checked we are only solid for 6 190s this year/next year. Nothing else is set in stone.

I think the CAL runs out first, but word is that we are keeping what we have left. This is rumor and no one of importance has stated this to be fact. My guess is that when the AMR contract is up, they will give us the boot. Still quite a few years left on that one.
