Couple things 1257:
We're being given industry average wages. This, in turn, raises the average for the entire industry, not having us at the bottom anymore. There are also rumors floating around that if we sign this contract, we are more than likely going to be awarded an RFP from United starting an August 1st.
Let's not also forget, that in 2005, we wouldn't take anything less than what we wanted, we listened to ALPA, and stood together as a Union. The direct result of that is now GoJet....
You think the company won't spin something off again on us? If this contract is supposed to be what it is, we would get some sort of large turboprop, as well as a guarantee of the first 10 MRJ's (if they ever get delivered), as well as job protection from anything. Who knows, maybe a few months from now, ALPA will fight to get the retiring age up to 70, because you know, we shouldn't just be "average" from the world, we should be industry leading!

There is no United RFP. That is a pure management tactic to get you to eat what is on your plate. DO NOT FALL FOR IT.
There are no large turboprops. PNCL has options for the next 30 Q's and the next delivery date for a new customer is late 2013. These are management rumors. But pilots always fall for them.

This guy is right, as this doesn't sound like a parade.
It sounds as though TSA pilots were strung along 5 years and then tossed rotting scraps that are equal to getting a contract 5 years ago with NO pay increases.
It appears that according to ALPA this is a good deal and babies should be tossed into the air. Good ole' ALPA...............some things will never change.

This is known as a "carrot". Management has been tossing these to dopey pilots for decades. It seems a new group of pilots always chases these cluelessly around. More then half the time they disappear *poof* like a fart in the wind after said dopey pilots take the bait and hungrily lunge forward.

From ALPA;
"TSA pilots have been among the lowest-paid in the industry and this new deal
will bring them closer to the industry standard with an average 11.7 percent increase
in captain’s pay and an average 14.5 percent increase in first officer’s pay."
So 11.7% for Capt's. and 14.5% for F/O's?
Weren't you guys near the bottom to start with for a 5 year negotiation
so that's basically an inflation adjustment to the bottom?
Surely the work rules are relevant also, but it pains to see
regional guys seem to get excited about inflationary increases to bottom pay.
Obviously you guys know every new contract agreement affects every other airline negotiation.
Do you want to be there for the duration of your careers?
Do you want your next company to site your low wages to justify lowering their's?
Just saying, we don't all work in an insulated vacuum from each other.
Wish you all the best, but imho this pay rate is far from it.

First of all I just want to point out that this post was a dick move. TSA pilots have stood their ground for half of a decade.
1. Voted down contract extension that was crap and lost the Gojet flying
2. Voted down a "bridge agreement" that was crap
3. Voted overwhelmingly to auth a strike.
Obviously the TSA pilots know what they are fighting for and are willing to go all the way to get it so your post was uncalled for.
Fact of the matter is that if the TA sucks it will get voted down. However I expect it to pass because I'm pretty sure that the negotiating committee wouldn't agree to something unless they thought it would pass the pilot vote...otherwise there would have been a TA years ago.

Is this a poem? it doesn't rhyme.
Seriously tho, you obviously don't know anything about TSA and our management. Good luck trying to get anything above industry standard. I'm not really holding my breath over this TA either but at least it looks like our pay will be average.

we are owed somewhere around 9-12 mil as a group. you dont think that helped them?
im a realist...im well aware we arent getting 9-12 mil no matter how long negotiations last. it is still difficult for me to vote yes due to the principle of it. one, they used our $ for that purchase and two, if they save a single dollar they have incentive for delaying 5 years again next time.
maybe i get too emotional in the principle of matters, it just ****es me off.
