It started as a 757 and I think they did it 5 days a week to match Allegiant. Im sure they downgraded their service when they realized they were losing their shirts.

Who says you can't make money investing in regional airlines.
That's not investing. That's gambling on the market.

And you won a round. (Good job)

Investors are looking for a place to keep thier money. Traders are looking for a place to move thier money. Worlds of difference.

Obviously ill-informed.

If that's the case, then keep it under a mattress or in the freezer with tinfoil wrapped around it.

Then they should move it offshore, to avoid taxes.

Seems like investing to me.

INVESTOR: An individual who commits money to investment products with the expectation of financial returns. . . . Seems to me he made a return 140%. Better than most Wall Street can do.

TRADERS: One who buys and sells securities for his/her personal account, not on behalf of clients or an investor who holds stocks and securities for a short period of time (a few minutes, hours or days, weeks, months). The goal is to profit from short-term gains in the market.

Whatever you want to call it . . . the GOAL is the same.

Ellen, how can you be so wrong so often?

Clearly, this in not a sound long term investment strategy.

Brilliant! Lets all move all our money off shore. Then no one will pay any taxes! Of course then there will be no government services either.

You know, pretty much anybody can make 140% return on any single trade. And a $1000 investment isn't a drop in the bucket in the entire market. Now, maintain a 140% annual return on a several hundred million doller portfolio.... yeah, I'm sure that happens a lot.

Empahsis changed.

Traders do not invest.
Traders do not build.
Traders do not contribute.

Traders are hyenas. They nibble at the margins. They grab a quck advantage and then scurry away. Some can make a very nice living at it, no doubt.

But they do nothing for the market.

No, it isn't.

Just as the goal of a cheat and the honorable man may appear the same: to survive.

The cheat may do anything to that end.
The honorable man will not.

And from another thread:

"But they do nothing for the market."

Well, traders provide some liquidity to the market. It takes both traders and investors for the market to work.

IMO, there is no right or wrong between "trading" and "investing". It's purely a personal decision. If you want to be an "investor" and think you can out perform that way, go for it. If someone else wants to be a "trader" then more power to them... Everyone is free to put their capital at risk in the way that best suits them.

Well, there were several posts that were pontificating about trading vs. investing, so I thought I would insert my opinion as well.

The original post was an analysis of the regionals business activities. Personally, I agree with the opinon that was stated in the thread. Eventually, there will be a bottom and things will reverse.
