I am very good friends with the CP at MWR and they use outside vendors for perf data. My point is few 91 operators will use it. As a former PIC on a CRJ the g whiz stuff only goes so far then one has to go with reality. If you think load plan is wrong and pull out the PDA for your argument, you first mistake will be to pull out the PDA. I wish I could program an APP like that. Many kudos! But regs and laws are just that. Lawyers are every where. Part 91 is fine, anything else is too risky....

Dude, get your panties out of a wad. It's for plannin purposes ONLY as the op stated. Its for when your up at the gate and the gate agent is asking how many you can take and so you can know if the dude trying to Jumpseat home will be able to get on the flight.

FIIGMO, in the end, you don't take off with the data from my app it would be impossible (firstly, it states on the app itself "For planning purposes only, Caution; balance is not calculated, secondly, it does not provide stab trims, v speeds etc..., and thirdly if you use an iPhone app to calculate your actual take off data you probably deserve to take off out of CG and crash) Ok JK on the last one, that was kind of harsh. Point being, my app does exactly what you'd do anyway when you're sitting at the flight deck on your FMS before you send your final numbers away... which is; put erroneous data on the Perf page and juggle numbers that "might" work.

Not that it makes a difference but Mesaba used to have a cell phone app running off some off brand flip phone style phone crunching the "legal" numbers for Saab W&B. So using a phone for legal weight and balance in 121 ops is not unheard of...

If you are going to sell the data to individuals, please provide the under writer that you will use for insurance purposes. Good idea, but how would anyone legally use it? Part 91 maybe anything else is a liability. Like the idea, just not sure if one looks at the legal risks it would be worth it for anything other than part 91 ops. If one can even find a 91 CL-65 operator that does not use a licensed flight planning service... Just sayin
Holy crap do you get nervous about driving past police stations etc. Planning purposes.

What a great idea. How about one for the 700/900? Or just make this work for all three...

When I finally get un-furloughed, we won't have any more -200s at Mesa. Just those other pesky, not-so-shiny jets.

Thanks!!!
nordo, you set the parameters for bow simply by touching the 31000 with your finger, it should bring up a cursor and keyboard to let you edit it. the app will save your bow, pax weight, half weight and bag weight even if you turn your phone off.

I've been waiting on whether or not to make a 700/900 version. I wasn't quite sure if they were as weight critical as the 200

according to this a pocket calculator must be dangerous and illegal to use at the gate for planning purposes?

Thanks! I tried it the first time and I guess my fat fingers didn't want to make it work. Tried it again, and now I can edit those fields...excellent!

More than anything else, this app just shows that there's more to life than flying... there's writing cool iOS apps if you've got the skillz.
