Safety is not measured in accidents and lives lost. Luck plays a large part in keeping people safe. Those of us outside Silver Airways can only judge the safety of the company largely by the pilots they meet, flights they take, and management practices.

Gulfstream had its run-ins with the FAA. Gulfstream also watered down the role of their FOs by allowing anyone who qualified for a loan to play airline pilot. That put a lot of extra work on the captains, effectively making many 121 flights a single pilot operation. Previous management has made it clear safety was a low priority for them. Silver Airways tells us they are a new company, and that may be the case, but it takes time to get rid of bad apples within the company and even more time to make the rest of the world forget about them.

The most important reflection of safety (and the one you seem to have failed at) is the way the public views the pilots. What you have done today has showed many people that Silver Airways has at least one FO fresh out of training who has a large ego and does not respect other aspects of aviation that he has little experience with. There will be a point when you have enough experience to realize how dangerous a pilot who over estimates their abilities and under estimates the conditions is. The fact that you responded to Wingtips equally dumb comments shows that you may be able to physically fly a 1900, but you failed CRM by not recognizing and avoiding another immature pilot.

You sir have failed at recognizing two trollsmessing around on the Internet from the get go. It's a shame people take the "Internet" so seriously.

Try landing a 150,000+ airplane on a contaminated runway in a crosswind. A B1900 stops fairly quick when you throw the props into beta. It's not as simple in a jet.

I'm not knocking beech drivers, but I think you need to understand that just because it's a jet doesn't make it easier.

If I had a track record like Cruz's, I would of had my mouth shut a long time ago. There are some sharks in here, and they smell blood.

Humble yourself..It goes a long way.Word on the street is, Cruz never mentioned any RJ time during training ;)

Some people never learn. And you've heard it before, its all about who you know in aviation.People know people and they WILL talk. You don't always gotta be the the loudest guy in the room. You may be the loudest, but inevitably your taking a big chance in looking like the fool in the end.

Never flew the RJ but hopefully soon! Fingers crossed!

Also - to be fair to Cruz about the supposed jet time - he did say in the one post that "Handflying in the worst weather is more rewarding than any of the flying I've done on a RJ."

Then we can assume that you meant this "Flown jets been there done that [current post #25]" from a JS POV too?

Now making comments about how hard it is to do something from watching isn't very smart either. It doesn't look very hard to kick a football 40+ yards through those HUGE uprights :)

I'm just suggesting that you be careful in how you portray yourself on the forums especially when it comes to qualifications/experience. APC has already been the stalking ground on one infamous fake and I don't think the community appreciates it.

Your defense of sarcasm rings to johnso29/AcesHigh rings hollow too. Yep - it is just the internet and users only window into whether to take you seriously or decide if you are one who's opinion is worth nothing; then see if you participation on APC is still worthwhile. APC is an internet ready room/crew lounge. Do you take the same attitude with you into that space?

Are you truly saying that you washed out of training/IOE between 2000ish yesterday when you made this post:

An MSNBC reference without immediately being flamed for not watching Fox! This thread has reached the breaking point.

And there is plenty of diversity in this industry. I can't tell you how many different types of white males I have met.

In order to make sure the OP gets at least on response per 3 pages dealing with the topic, 19 seaters have been a dying breed for a while. 37 seaters are also hard to find. 50 seaters are next on the chopping block, but who knows when the axe will drop.

We cant have a world where we fly 100 seat jets to CRW ALB ABE etc....maybe the pants are finally getting close to the right size.

The industry is in an interesting squeeze. Massive pilot retirements, new FAA rest rules, the ATP requirement, regional pay reaching its lowest acceptable limit for many, rising oil prices, consolidations, scope take back, and the desire for cheap tickets are causing strange manifestations. Every regional wants bigger planes to cover higher operating costs, but some markets don't have enough passengers to support the larger planes. Majors must pay regionals more money for the small markets if they want the feed. Those customers who want local airline service have to start paying more too.

Can we stand beside each other and compare?

Me "Bro your totally darker than me"
Turbine" Bro your almost white!"
Me" I know awesome right?"
Turbine "Your officially THE whitest black guy I know"

Because I haven't heard that before ^^ :P Is it the bro thing?

But to remain somewhat on topic... 19 passenger flying... Somewhat of a dying breed IMO... Kinda like how we have drones doing things we used to have people do. Other aircraft as well as methods of transportation are simply taking its place.

I don't think it will ever be eliminated due to areas the bigger aircraft can't get into and runway lengths etc, but as you can see over recent years the need for them has been on the decline.

The "need" hasn't been on the decline, the ability to make money with them has!

Don't tell SWA/AirTran and US Airways that...all of those airports get mainline service.

Funny as I was writing that, I was thinking about that as well...I agree 100% with you.

Wingtips 03-10-2012 07:41 PM

eagle is rather diverse for an airline, most likely due to the SJU/executive side. We have a large amount of Hispanic, and a fair share of black and Asian pilots too, I would be willing to bet that it is on par to national demographic %s with an influx on the Hispanic side. When it comes to lady pilots we have some but I am not sure how we stand in relation to the % of ATPs that are woman.

There was one tool in my new hire class, he would basically take things off here and come to class the next day and be like oh my buddy at republic said, or my buddy at ASA said, and it was literally every single day, and a new topic from a post on here. Needless to say, he now as a FO wears the hat.

He was also quoted in class as saying that Eagle training is unfair because he has to study on his own!
