Pinnacle’s bankruptcy underlies growing weakness of US regional carriers | CAPA
Interesting account of the timeline and factors leading up to the BK declaration, including the fact that:
So the decision to declare BK was made MANY moths ago, long before numbers 1 & 2 decided to stuff their pockets full of cash.

Initial negotiations between Delta and Pinnacle covering DIP financing began in Jan-2012 but ended when the two carriers failed to agree on the amount of funding and pricing. Talks that eventually led to the negotiated settlement began in Mar-2012.

Just the way management works in industries that are so important to the national economy and where the government doesn't want to pay for bailouts.

The 16 900's are 'going away' in Jan 2013. The reason for that is: The company will get the BK Court to make us take huge pay cuts. Then Delta will negotiate with Pinnacle to keep the 900's operating with the new crap wages.

Or to renegotiate the leases and/or pawn them off to another carrier for a 2:1 trade to park 200s.

That's a fallacy, or you don't know very many. There are always some interested, especially in SWA, UPS, FDX but not so much the rest of the industry.

Technician pilots, on the other hand, their program is a little different. And for a traditional guardsman, that statement could be correct if they're looking to fly more...or they could guard bum 'til something full-time comes along. If you think it's hard getting on at the majors, try getting in an AGR program in the ANG units! It's done of course, but politics plays a huge hand - like everywhere else it seems.
