Give it some time, I'm sure this will happen. Major's will end up buying the regionals, essentially dissolving them. Then they'll eventually be able to get the "major" aircraft pilot's to fly for less. This is my prediction.

APA offer this to AMR managment already and was told to shove it and take the term sheet!
