I'd be interested in seeing how it went.

Well, if you don't OWN any of the company, and you don't happen to SIT on the board, it's kinda hard to influence who is appointed CEO, and therefore who LEADs the company. I mean, I've honestly just been skimming this thread but it sounds like you want a Union guy as CEO, and I'm not sure you understand how CEO's become CEO's.

With the pending legal claims from the Colgan accident I doubt 9E will be exiting bankruptcy...

Maybe Gulfstream or JetU will reemerge with a "Be an airline CEO in 90 days" program. This airline was built on that wonderous mediocrity so I'm sure there would be a line out the door.

The Union lawyer said this was not even part of the equation, airlines carry insurance that cover accidents. I would think training costs and a senior pilot group as well as the inability to get any new contracts that pay enough to make a profit will prevent the company from exiting BK. Longterm it might be good if all the regionals start going belly up, it would force the majors to do their own flying.

In New York punitive damages are paid by the company, not insurance. Because of this all of the legal actions by the 3407 families against Colgan are on hold.

Flight 3407 kin set back by Pinnacle bankruptcy - Washington - The Buffalo News

The only way out of this would be if the venue is changed to Tennessee or Federal Court. But if this comes under New York law Pinnacle and any successor organization will be on the hook for punitive damages, not insurance.

I agree that the internal situation at Pinnacle right now doesn't bode well for the future of the company. It's not good when your future rides on the whims of Mother Delta.

I thought Jane had said that it wasn't an issue because of insurance, maybe she said it wasn't what brought them into bankruptcy or something. Who picks the venue?

Aaaaaaannnnnd...we're back to fighting windmills. (sigh)

Oh well. 3 pages was more attention-span than I had anticipated and more than is typically achievable in a thread.

Threads are like golden retrievers...fun to watch but so very easily distracted. When all else fails....refer back to post #1 to remember what the topic once was.

I'll go back to watching.

The only thing certain is that SOMETHING will happen. I just hope that someone takes the reigns and makes it as least unpleasant as possible.

Even cheap lube is better than sand.
