Wow... I think this post sums up APC quite well. A ***** fest over who can pack better than the other, and how one persons opinion of what to pack should dictate the other. And the usual spelling Nazis who got molested as a child by the letter i.

That would be hard to explain at the metal detectors.

My apologies if I appeared mean. For some reason uniform is a sticky point with me. Must be those 12 freaking years of catholic school. Those nuns were the ultimate uniform nazis.

Man, sometimes you can't help but giggle at the naivete/ignorance of some pilots. HercDriver flies ACMI/heavy/int'l. And if you talk to many of those guys, it's simply the "tools of the trade" that most, if not all carry around since just about everything else is in the airplane and they don't carry flight bags.

Besides, parking in far off ramp areas, especially in foreign countries, wearing of the vest is a law when walking around. You know, like when you go to Canada and as soon as the FO steps outside the ramper hands him the vest.

Funny, the AE guys in my crashpad got their own vests.

Ahhh, the vest. I remember after a Vancouver overnight stepping into the jet way after the walk around, two of the flight attendants were just walking up and they started laughing so hard I thought they'd spill their coffees. The one looks at me and says, "sorry, but you look just like a traffic cop." They were right, I had on the black leather flight jacket and hat. My response was, "hmmm, maybe I can get a raise and a pension now,"
