On a more serious note with these observations- I think as far as regional pilot first officer pay goes that the compensation that a military WO1 receives is a good starting point. There is certainly historical precedent.

Nice info OldSF3......good to learn something new.

My 0.02 regarding the backpack, earbuds, etc.
1) I can see where one would need a rollerboard, a flight case, an extra bag (backpack) because you might be gone for a while, and possibly a snack/lunch bag 'cause you need to save money...Total 4......Anything above that......seriously?.
2) If you have a hat anywhere around you, wear the damn thing in PUBLIC. Obviously you MUST wear it.
3) Why are your pants a different color shade from your jacket?.
4) If the stripes on your spaulets are close to the color of your pants, WASH THEM.
5) Flight cases are CASES to carry your necessary equipment for FLIGHT. Although it is your case, and might be your opinions, if said case is being held by nothing but bumper stickers, it's time for a new one. A few stickers are ok, but if one can't tell what material that case is made of, YOU HAVE TOO MANY STICKERS.
6) Lastly but not least, we get paid (some very well, others not so) to be PROFESSIONALS. Part of being a PROFESSIONAL is to look like a PROFESSIONAL. I have yet to see a Doctor, Attorney, Engineer, or other PROFESSIONALS looking like some PROFESSIONAL PILOTS while in public.

Ok, feel better now, thanks.

I'd say that anything above 2 is excessive. In no way is it necessary to have more than an overnight bag and a flight case for a 4-5 day regional airline trip, even if counting commuting/reserve time. Of course, there will be exceptions, such as having to carry a garment bag or something.

The amount of pilots who go through the airport looking like they're going on an Everest expedition... or like they're homeless and bringing all their belongings with them... is rediculous.

You don't see mainline crews or international airline crews, who do much longer trips, with this amount of stuff with them. Yes, there are a few exceptions as always, but for the most part... its overnight bag and flight case. If you can't fit all the stuff you need in those two items, you need to re-evaluate what you're bringing with you and how you pack it.

So you think it is wrong to bring a coolerbag for your food?

You can very easily put one of those inside your overnight bag and still have plenty of room.

Not sure how you pack your overnight bag, but I have one white t-shirt for every day I work, one extra uniform shirt, one pair of jeans, one or two regular tees/sweaters, gym shorts and shirt, and running shoes. My bag can not fit anything else.

How do you explain a coolerbag filled with food to fit in an overnight bag?

I swear, this thread was just a little historical info on the uniform and now jokers are talking about backpacks and flight case stickers. Same ol back and forth as always

"I think 2 is ok, but 3 is too much.."

"Well, I disagree. I think 3 is ok but 4 is way too much."

"Hey, I have 4. Why dont you guys mind your own business."

"Why dont you stop bringing down the profession."

"Pay me more and Ill have less stickers."

I can give 2 dumps about what anyone else thinks about my flight case, pant color, sun glasses, cell phone, Prince Albert piercing, etc...Get over yourselves boys and girls.

So your telling me you can pack;

2 T-shirts/sweaters
1 Pair of pants
3 Boxers
3 Pair of socks
1 Pair of Tennis shoes
1 Rubber Fist (In your case lolwut)
1 Set of workout gear (shirt & shorts)
1 light jacket (in the winter)

A cooler as well??? Your either an amazing packer or delusional, I'll go with the latter.

Haha, I needed some mid-week comedy. It's obvious to me that most airlines (especially/mostly regionals) are not looking for professionals. The "we get paid" part is especially funny.
