Nope. Not me.
I didn't know about this forum for many years, but it was extremely helpful in networking and RElearning some about the civilian side of aviation after a career spent in military flying. I still use it all the time to brush up and learn new things about general aviation. I enjoy the Safety forum too.

O well disregard then. I thought when I joined, an airline, charter company etc. email was needed but I have been proven wrong by a mod.

APC is a community focused on pilots helping pilots, sometimes it's tough love, but hopefully advice always comes from the intent to pay some goodwill forward. We hope so anyway. We also find that regulars in the regional forums are best prepared and equipped to share current information for those pursuing employment doing part 121 flying.

Sometimes there are new users so completely clueless, angry, and unable to use the search tools, but fortunately those cases are rare. While we don't like to limit access to the pilot forums, sometimes new users earn that restriction. This is a community and as the admin I want to be responsive to the forum users, but I firmly believe giving a leg up to someone without connections or insight is just good karma.

We were all there at one time, relax and pay it forward.

As for the registration email, it doesn't have to be an airline email, just a non-freemail account.

Atleast one of the mods is not an airline pilot. As everyone stated, you don't need an airline email address to join the fourms.

I joined this forum in 2006 when I was a junior in High School. I've been actively reading/posting every since. I went into the Navy, did all my ratings, went to college, and now I'm working on a CFI. There's a good chance I've been reading this longer than a lot of guys, but I've was never an airline pilot.

However, because I've been reading these forums, I've learned. I've learned more reading these forums than I ever did in any "airline pilot ops" class when I was ERAU. There's a ton of *****ing and moaning on these boards, but there is still a lot of good info to be read for guys that aren't airline pilots just yet. It's pretty eye-opening.

Many folks who frequent Airline Pilot Central do not remember the days when gathering all the information APC has took either hours upon hours of time in a library or around $150 (15 hours of flight instructor pay) paid to a certain company. And the information we got in those days was often a year old. Thanks to APC and John and Paul in particular, we have current, up to date information on most if not all 121 carriers and several large 135 carriers.

IMHO this forum is FOR the FNGs. This is the best single source of airline information. Let the newbies come and ask their silly questions, and let US answer, help, and guide them.

Even though I'm a CFI, I agree. Too many "OMGZ I GOT BELOW 1000 HRS HIRE ME!" topics. Too many people are not patient enough and just need to relax. While turbine time is great, they think of it as everything. People; 2 words "Calm down"

I just joined not too long ago (couple of months), and it did say you can't use hotmail or gmail to sign up... It wanted your work email to verify you were an 'aviation professional' or something. So you may have a point. But your delivery was B-A-D!
