I stand corrected, 600 million in cash on hand.
American had over $4,000,000,000 in cash when it filled bankruptcy!
SKW currently is doing better than any regional out there but remember who pays the bills and how ruthless they can be! Delta wants to park 50 seaters and SKW Holdings has a crap loat of them operated for Delta. Delta drove pinnacle to CH11 (with the combination of other things) but Delta was the driving factor! SKW has publicly said that it needs to re work contracts with their major partners, RAH has mentioned the same thing and even stated that it needs to reorganize one of its certificates, sounds much of what Pinnacle was saying prior to filling!

Some very good points here. SkyWest Airlines is by far the strongest airline right now. Has anyone been watching SkyWest Inc's stock lately, it is in a free fall almost. ExpressJet is dealing with costly merger costs, labor issues, and maintenance issues related to all those 50-seaters. If Delta passes this current TA, whats to say that United doesn't reach a JCBA with similar scope?

Because if they do, it is written into the ExpressJet CPA that they have first rights to any additional larger aircraft at a 2:1 replacement until all of their 50 seat fleet is gone. So absolute worse case scenario is XJT becomes 50% smaller but thats if UAL parks every single 50 seater which I don't believe will ever happen.

CPA just like pilot contract is amendable at anytime! How good would it be for SKW to argue with United as the 50 seated cost rise and United doesn't help them all the meanwhile larger RJs CPA expire and Delta parks 50 seaters at a faster rate! Tell you what, you might not have amanning issue just like us at Eagle and Pinnacle! We aren't managment and we don't know what this guys will do, but one thing we do know is that they will do whatever is in their power to reduce our wages and increase our "productivity". Please, please don't sit there thinking we are safe because of our contract or CPA!

So what do you recommend I do? Sit around worrying all the time and tell people not to come here? I'm proud of our contract and our work rules and would tell anyone to come here over many other places. With a little seniority you can have great QOL and make decent money by industry standards. Will it last? Who knows, but I don't have control over that. Any of us could be gone at any time I get that, but I will continue to do anything I can to better the profession until we go under. My point is out of all the other regional operators out there, Skywest is the only one I would want to be associated with from a financial standpoint. People always talk about the 50 seaters. Well, there will always be some need for them, and to quote the earnings call, it is Skywest and XJTs hope that we will be the companies used to fill those voids, however much smaller they may be in the future. ExpressJet hasn't lost money in 3 months now, so I'd appreciate it if people still stuck on that bandwagon would get the heck off. Mark my words, we will show a profit as a whole in Q2 and thereafter.

Not sure why someone would tell them that. RAH is going to be hiring for a while. I think it will be similar to 06/07 for a while. The Q wasnt the last announcement this summer.

I'm really hoping SKYW shows a profit for the 2nd quarter. It is interesting to hear how ExpressJet has been showing a profit the last three months, yet the last three months have been probably the worst in SKYW history with respect to their stock price. I've just been going off the 2011 10K and Q1 10Q reports and haven't looked into the monthly earnings reports. It seems like SKYW stock is in a free fall right now, almost every day setting new 52 week lows.

I'm still waiting on what I should do. Quit? Leave the industry? Be depressed all the time? I've been here 6+ years, I have no choice but to keep flying until the majors start hiring. I guess everyone should tell people not to come to their company. All I know is I was home every night last year and flew 210 less hours than a friend of mine working at another company and made the same money. I'm fine being here for now, but I'm not going to walk around waiting for the doors to close and find everything I can to convince myself that we are finished. There is more to life guys. Even more to life than finding that amazing job at mainline! Yaaay 4 days!

Reality is probably right between the most optimistic post on here so far and your last post. Sure SKW is facing many challenges and things could go south quickly if United and Delta put the screws to them, but I have a feeling they saw this 50 seater thing coming a long time ago and were not caught unaware.
