I use these

Johnston & Murphy: PENN SLIP-ON - Black Full Grain

Do not beep, and extremely comfortable. Worn for over a year so far and still look brand new ( polish regularly) Sole is good in the winter too. I got them for around $100. Highly recommend

I was pretty angry about the whole thing as he assured me they were safe. I brought them back and got these:

I have tried just about every brand over the years and I am most satisfied with these.
I won't post anything that could be seen as a security threat but this article kinda helps what I'm hinting at. I know Jonathan Corbett is talking about a different machine but there are loop holes in the metallic detecting machines too. I have metal shanks in my shoes and rarely hear the beep. Some will say that they don't want to deal with the hassle but to each their own.

Hands down the best. I've never had a problem going through any airport in this country or others. I have had mine for four years and they still look brand new. The nice part is in the winter, the snow won't get in your shoe while doing a walk around or just in general.

I have a pair of Ariat Ropers. They have no metal shanks and have worked great. In the summer they allow my feet to breath, and in the winter I can wear wool socks without showing the sock color since the boot comes up on the sides.

Since we're talking clothing, any belt recommendations that the airport smurfs won't hassle me about?

I buy my belts from Coach and have never had any problems with the buckles setting off the metal detector. You pay more but as my previous post regarding shoes mentioned, you get what you pay for.

haha Crocs... they look ridiculous but they are by far one of the more comfortable shoes I've ever worn. They used to make an all-black cloth corduroy slip ons that looked decent and were really comfortable.

I just bought a new pair of Rockports the other day. Very durable/comfortable shoe. I'm still breaking them in so I'll let you know in a couple weeks how they are doing. I had a pair in high school and they were one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

A lot of my co-workers and friends swear by Clarks. Supposedly really good if you have back problems and need a comfortable shoe for daily wear.
