Yeah, seriously. I remember flying at least two N***CA birds while at Pinnacle. It's the RJ shuffle by Delta.

NO Delta Connection carrier is safe, not even the precious and almighty Skywest.

Yeah, but those were falling apart CRJ-200s that no one wanted in the first place. Honestly, I wouldn't say we "flew" them more than kept the hamsters running with spit and gum. I never actually got airborne in one. I pushed back from the gate several times, though. And let's not forget they were gone as soon as we got ours all painted. Not sure where they are now...

Fact of the matter is, the industry is being eroded by the "lowest bidder" mentality.

Someone needs to write an appropriate history. But, as I recall Comair was probably the best run regional airline anywhere prior to their Delta acquisition. Comair lobbied manufacturers to build the RJ and were the first to operate the type in 1993.

Shares in Comair opened trading at $5 and split eight times on their way to nearly $40 a share. Comair topped a billion in revenue in the late 1990's.

As an ASA pilot then, Comair always impressed us with their operation. The way they engineered their stations and aircraft handling is IMHO unmatched even today in the "regional" business. When I asked our management "why can't we do things like they do" the response was "because excellence costs money."

Comair's crews have always been professional and polite in every dealing I've ever had with them personally. They've worked in an a tremendously adverse situation since 2001. I had always hoped Delta would treat their own asset better.

Well said. I remember while working there in the late 90s on the ramp, that Eagle would send a van out and tape operations at the C concourse when it opened.

Leave it to Delta to take a billion dollar asset and make it worthless....

Sad! Comair pilots and FAs are tops in my book! Hard to stay classy in this industry!

The first time I jumpseated was in 1998 on a Comair flight. I was a lowly 135 freight dog trying to get to an interview, and somehow that Captain found a way to fudge the paperwork and let me ride.

Every Comair crew I met was a sterling example of professionalism. Gentlemen and Ladies all.

Such a sad day. My sincerest condolences to all the Comair folks.

Stay focused, stay safe, and good luck.

It's always been this way. Pinnacle was the lowest bidder too from 1999 to Jan 2011.

Just the facts. Northwest didn't just hand out 139 CRJ-200s to Pinnacle just because they 'liked' 9E. It was all business. 9E was cheap. Mesaba shrunk in the 2000s while Pinnacle grew.
