Just the facts. Northwest didn't just hand out 139 CRJ-200s to Pinnacle just because they 'liked' 9E. It was all business. 9E was cheap. Mesaba shrunk in the 2000s while Pinnacle grew.

Gotta agree with u. I got hired at Colgan when they were the lowest bidder. Pinnacle was the lowest jet bidder, and now we get paid less than we did a year ago! It's all a joke who cares. I laugh when someone tells me they work for a better regional. It just doesn't matter.

It's always been this way. Pinnacle was the lowest bidder too from 1999 to Jan 2011.
Even though I'm at 9E, I'll say that we were part of the problem then. When we fix things, we wind up in bankruptcy and are told we're too expensive now. So, yes. The underbidding is still destroying the industry. Are you trying to say it's not by pointing out I'm at an airline that was part of the problem a few years back? |

Yeah, and when we stood up to get on par with everyone else, we see what happened. My point still stands. Lowest bidder is eroding the industry. You also forgot the little "tactic" they played against us. Even though we were supposedly the lowest bidder, we lost 15 (17 if you count the ones we were supposed to get but hadn't yet) -200s to XJ during negotiations as a management tactic.

Can't speak for everyone at ASA...but I would personally walk in any comair pilots resume in at ASA/ExpressJet. Not that I have any pull, but would certainly do what I can to help. |

I don't think even the diamonds I crap will save ASA/ExpressJet in the long term. Also, I'm sorry you feel that ASA folks will be in here to beat their chest. I actually hear my co-workers trying to justify maintaining the status quo more oft than not these days. I just hope opportunity presents itself sooner than later for those of us that want to bail. |
