Because the 50 seater does still have a place in the market. It just didn't play as big of a role now. Plus, AE will be losing EMB135/145 aircraft to retirement and some of that lift will need to be replaced.

Boyd's right, the 50 seater is on last leg but this gets AA the feed ASAP vs waiting a while to get larger RJs and they're probably getting the -200's at a steal since DAL is canning them. Like others have said, this is just the start of AA jumping in the RJ game 5-10 years behind everyone else since they're just now hitting bankruptcy

SO FAR, this is actually ATR replacement flying. The EMB 140s in LAX are going to MIA and DFW. This is to cover lift lost by the ATR retirement. MIA I know needs planes bad right now, and that is still with ATRs here.

Do I feel for the Eagle employees? Yes. I have been in their shoes. I've been furloughed, recalled, then had my airline disappear. Do I feel ill will for the other pilots that got my flying? No of course not

Well apparently mainline doesn't own their flying anymore either because the APA fought hard as hell to keep it. AMR was able to get the judge to abrogate their contract and their scope. APA didn't sell it!

And your baseball analogy is flawed. I liken this cheering more to when you watch a football game and someone on you team take a career ending injury. There will be those who share their deepest sympathies and those who cheered for the great "hit".

The goal is stop the this cycle and try and level the playing field both on pay and longevity to prevent it from being so easy by management. You mean the pitcher who makes millions and has no problems or worries about providing for his family? The pitcher that works 40 days a year? Terrible analogy. He plays a game. You're getting excited about flying which isn't even growth flying, but simply the result of under bidding and the race to the bottom. I am not blaming skywest pilots by any means, but to publicy cheer gaining another airlines flying is embarrassing. If your new flying was AA growth flying then celebrate. Your new flying is resulting in base closure and job loss. That is nothing to celebrate or get excited about.
