I say good for him. This industry is the only one where age discrimination is still legal. As long as you can pass the physical and your PCs, when you retire should be up to the individual, not some bureaurcrat in DC. And before you ask, I'm not anywhere near mandatory retirement, and I'm not interested in getting someone else's job just because they were forced to retire....

Not even close to being true. There are MANY jobs that have mandatory age limts...
Hell, even American Idol has a max age...

But the requirement aside, I'd rather not be flying on a plane with an 80 year old pilot, even if he/she was healthy and sound of mind. I don't want to share the roads with them, let alone the skies.

Be careful what you say... you never know when you might have to eat your words. You/we really don't know his story, and as such, probably have no grounds by whih to judge this guy. The FAA, on the other hand, is a completely different story.
