I would argue the 145XR for the same reasons except it has MORE power (E-T/O and E-CLB anyone?), has the same sweet handling and higher speeds (both for cruise and flap extension) than the LR. Never an issue with weight restrictions whether you are flying a 30 minute ORD-SBN leg with an alternate or a 3 hour IAH-YYZ leg. Seats do suck as you approach the 2 hour mark. Otherwise, the cockpit is comfortable, if a bit loud. Sucks with/for a jumpseater, but not any worse than the 737 or CRJ. Oh yeah, dual FMS, ACARS, FADEC, blah blah blah. But I guess the XR is a pleasure only us lowly L-XJT goons get to experience.

Jetstream 31/32. I fly it part 135 now but it was a regional for a lot of 121 operators back in the day.

It can get a little boring sometimes in cruise but I'll take it any day over an antiquated turd (DC-6 or CW-46)...!!!

ND262, SF340A and B, Saab 2000, Dash8 100, 200, 400, F28 1000 and 4000.
For hand flying the Nord 262 was pretty hard to beat. It was slower than molasses, but the big tundra like tires made for smmoooth landings.

The Saab is A LOT of fun but I attribute that to the KIND of flying we do not the airplane.

The Avro?

That being said...the list of regional planes I wish I could fly/have flown:
  • ATR-72
  • Dash-8 (sure the Q as well)
  • Saab-2000
  • Emb-120

I guess I have a thing for props...
Flew the Metro, Saab 340, CRJ 900 and the BAC 146 Avro, the Avro was hands down the best. Very comfortable, then again if it is fit for a queen.

I miss the ATR-42/72, except on payday. I make more now per month than I did per year at a regional! It was fun to fly though.

Why no one has mentioned the mighty Shorts ... SD3-60 ?

Cold in the winter, hot in the summer, no autopilot, under-powered, unpressurized, lousy seats, noisy cockpit, low pay ... what's not to like ?

I don't think anything with a jet should be considered regional, not at some of the stage lengths they do.

If I could make good money in a Dash 8, that would be my choice ...
