They threw millions at Comair, paying off the employees so they would keep coming to work.

85% attendance got you 11 weeks of severance plus 3 months of COBRA.

I'd like to think Delta has long-term plans for 9E, but it's hard to tell. Delta seems to need all of us really really bad, until the moment they don't.

Think about all the feed that needs to be coordinated before the final death blow. Other wise Delta would loose much more in revenue than what they have given PNCL. Also, im sure the DOT would fine Delta if hundreds of flights get cancelled because of this lowball bidding race to the bottom war.

although if your going to kill the feed, now is the time to do it post xmas, cause from jan to spring its light travel till summer

In my humble opinion, Delta recognizes that Pinnacles costs are the highest in the industry. Not just the pilot cost, but all the other f'ed up costs that jack the TOTAL cost up. It is an extremely inefficient airline that can't find the elephants in its own circus tent. Barnum and Bailey would be disappointed.

Pinnacle is done. You can't just flip a switch to an airline with 2,300 pilots. It takes time to phase out the operation.

If they came out and said thy are going to wind it all the way down, then everyone would start walking off the job and the customers would be so irritated, they would vow to never again fly on Delta.

Pinnacle is a pig with AIDS and needs to be coaxed into the slaughter house slowly and carefully as to not disrupt the rest of the farm.

Lol. A pig with AIDS? Is that even possible!? I personally would've said a cow with gonorehea.

I think that's your Master Warning for "I'd still be stuck was it not for a flowthrough"

Count your blessings you were handed a job without having to earn it (getting a delta interview + passing it) like the rest of the regular crowd.

Almost spit my drink on my computer. Managed to save it. Now that's cost savings for you.

Neither does paying $2 billion for an asset then squashing it!

So true in the bizjet world as well.

I would guess if you thought you would be furloughed you would vote no and if you could hang on vote yes.*

* You are more valuable employed than on the street, being on employment doesn't do wonders for currency, Delta may have a stigma against you if the TA is turned down and just bide your time when these mainline retirements start accelerating.

Good luck to all in any event. I really do hope the pilots involved move on to greener pastures in the not too distant future. :D

NASCAR races are fun to watch becuase there are lots of racers beating the crud out of each other.

Delta must figure it gets back more in savings than it pays to keep the opening grid full of participants. When outsourcing your core business product logic gets turned on its ear. Does giving money to Aeromexico make sense so passengers can connect to Alaska?

Ticket and transaction fees are profitable lines of business. Deltas interests expand beyond running an airline.
