PNCL TA: YES to FURLOUGH, or NO BURN IT DOWN?

2,310 pilots vote.

405 get to keep their job
405 get demoted to first officer
1,500 lose their job

........if it passes.

Vote yes to furloughs, or no and burn it down?

Mesabah 12-18-2012 07:32 PM

It won't be as bad as you think.

Wait for the language to come out. I'm not saying I endorse it or don't. If it's not good, vote it down. If its surprisingly good, vote in favor. Once the language comes out, I have a feeling the boards will carry a firm mindset or a hearty debate. From the get-go its hard to be upbeat about losing 100 airframes and half the list. In the end it does come down to your thread title, so I give you that.

Our union reps are volunteers. This is as much their job as it is ours. We deserve them the respect to reserve judgement until their hard work is displayed to us in full language. These are our brothers.

95 pre-merger 9E pilots move from their temporary home in the 200 back to the 900. 16 900's leave before the new ones come back. Some will "ratio" over but most will go to 200. Once both Xj and 9E are up to ratio, senior Colgan guys will move over to make up 405 total. In the mean time FO's are shuttling back and forth between 200 and 900 [and from turboprops (actually ass sitting now)] 200 FO's hit the bricks. Training cost go even further up the wazoo. Don't count on those 40 until they are on the ramp and the door closes on the first flight.

Alternative is a "wind down." Year or 18 months for the "vultures" to grab the flying. In the mean time most of the above happens anyway. A "yes" vote will entitile Delta to beat everyone else about the head and shoulders during their section 6 rates and in the meantime reimburse ALL DCI's less because the average is now lower. A "NO" vote sacrifices PNCL pilots for the "common good." Nice choice.

You forgot "Other.”

What do you mean read the TA? It's a concessionary contract. Pinnalce's current pay is not that much different than Skywest or ExpressJet. Why would you believe you're overpaid? If you're even entertaining this TA, you believe you should do this job for less than what you are getting paid? That's what this TA is about. Getting you to do your job for less than what you make now, in pay/QOL. If I ever faced a vote to take a paycut, my vote is automatically no. I don't need details. Let the judge force it. Comair took 3 voluntarily voted paycuts, and 1 offer in a last-ditch efford but they still couldn't stop the inevitable.

If this TA is signed, it will set the new benchmark off which XJT, Skywest, Eagle, Republic, and all other regional airlines will then go off from.

Good luck to you all, but to the 1400 who are going to be jobless anyway, why give up one penny? The end result is the same for these 1400. Might as well take full pay to the last day.

All legacies make more than VX, except US Air pilots who made numb decisions to get stuck under LOA 93. When VX started, the legacies were already all in post-bankruptcy era contracts when management set VX rates. That was the landscape the industry was in, post 9/11, high oil and a recession. Today, all those legacies have improved their pay into a much better position than the post 9/11 contracts, and much better than VX. VX didn't hinder UAL, CAL, nor Delta. All these airlines scored new pilot pay withotu any hindrance from VX. US Air is the only one, but they have their own internal issues that caused their current LOA 93 predicament.
